which s2000 is the fastest???
Alright well, thats the simple question i want to know.....I heard from various people that the '06 is the fastest followed by the '00 then the '04. Can anyone confirm this or get specs? I know the older ones had 2.0 240hp and the new ones have 2.2 238hp but supposebly honda did something to the '00 to make them faster, is this just bs?
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

Just get whatever S2000 you really like, add the $700 closer ratio gear set and boom, you're faster than all of them (stock)
i think i heard different...ap2 > ap1...but really...it doesnt make a difference..jus learn how to drive and u can use any s2k and pretty much keep up with any of the others. good driver > noob driver lol duuuuuuh. the ap2's have more torque and a lower redline so power kicks in earlier. but anyways the ap2 should be better then the ap1. if u want to know which is faster, it would be difficult because both cars dont really come to far from each other. jus a change in some susp and some engine/tranny stuff

They didnt make it worse, they just altered who the car appeals to... Meaning the AP1 being as tail happy as it is tends to appeal to the enthusiest who runs track days and such. the AP2 with its more city driving friendly power band and softer suspension appeals more to the aveage older driver who has the $$ to spend on a sports car and plans on driving it to and from work or just on the weekends. So Honda simply made the S2000 more marketable to a larger number of people. is it faster? slower? depends, most of the time they are pretty equal. though I'd be curious to see what an AP1 suspension tied with an AP2 engine could do. with the right driver.

the newer ones have larger displacement for more usable torque. means less reving to get usable power. but for the price of a older one, it would leave u with more $ to fix it up. this is assuming u r looking to buy another vehicle (since your other was stolen

thats exactly what my friend is doing...he has about 23k saved...instead of making that a down on an ap2 hes gonna find a used ap1 for around 14-18k or so and use the rest on suspension and ****...
take it from me, you will love!!!!! the 9k redline!. the newer ones have more torque but lower rpm redline. they are also geared differently. go with an 03-02 s2k has most of the comforts w/ the 2.0l just my $0.02
AP2>AP1 imo. the gearing ratio for both is 4.1, its just the displacement of the motor that makes it seem different. and they lowered the redline from 9k because people tend to rev it up to 9k so much when its not needed. i think the optimal shift point was 8700. but anyways, people say the ap1 is more of a "raw" car than the ap2's. and also, the new 06 is drive by wire now so thats something you might want to look into. And the ap2's just extract power SOOOOOO easily. its like tuning a k series motor. check this out: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=413210 this is a stock car with just some minor tuning
imo, if your not going FI and just want some more low end grunt, go 4.77 richmond gears and youll be happy. more low end with the a higher crusing RPM. but whatever you get, your gonna love it.
