Bugatti Veyron launch
i thought they released that thing last year?? 253 mph top speed i believe....in-fvcking-sane....and top-speed mode reverts back to sport-mode (which is ONLY capable of like 180 mph) if you get out of it at more than 130.....wtf is the world coming to....it's a wonder nobody had one for the gumball rally...
yeah, i have last year's Car and Driver somewhere....it was the cover car
you have to "unlock" (literally) the top speed mode. there's a key slot in the driver-side floorboard, just in front of the seat. like a locking trunk release...but much more fun!!

i saw that car in another video a while back (show on TV). i think that they said that if they floor it from a dead stop, it will empty the gas tank in less than 6 seconds...(not sure if that's the correct time, but it's something insanely nuts like that)

omg that is sweet
thats impossible a top fuel dragster burns 15 gallons in 6 seconds and it had five time more power.

IF I AM MISTAKEN ABOUT IT BEING THAT CAR, THEN IT'S THIS CAR THAT DOES JUST THAT...
All I know is that one of the two cars empties it's gas tank.

^^^ That is a Maybach Excelero concept, designed for the launch of a new Fulda Extremo tyre i believe. It can do 200+ mph too, although it is a complete one off which cost about £7 million to develop and make.
It is also to celebrate the original Excelero of the 1930's (i think it was the 30's anyway).
The Bugatti Veyron engines that are currently being handbuilt are making nearer to 1300bhp at the moment according to Bugatti engineers...i recently read a feature about it in an English sports car magazine which pitched it against the EB110 and the classic and uber rare Bugatti Atlantique.

i watched a show, and if the veyron was at a standstill and a ferrari enzo passed it doing 100mph the veyron launched right as it passed the vayron would be ahead of the ferrari by the time the enzo hit 160 the bugatti would be ahead of it....insane.

Just a Thought about the V16 engine
Read this guys
How much gas is that?
Here's a quick calculation, which you can ignore if you hate math:
1,000 horsepower is equivalent to roughly 2.6 billion joules per hour. A gallon (3.8 liters) of gasoline contains 132 million joules, so a 1,000-hp engine has to be able to burn just over 20 gallons of gasoline per hour.
However, car engines are only about one-quarter efficient -- three quarters of the gasoline's energy escapes as heat rather than as power to the wheels. So the engine actually has to be able to burn at least 80 gallons per hour, or 1.33 gallons (5 liters) per minute.
Let's convert over to metric. Gasoline requires about 14.7 kilograms of air to burn 1 kilogram of gas. Air weighs 1.222 kilograms per cubic meter at sea level. A gallon of gasoline weighs 2.84 kilograms. So the engine has to be able to process 2.84*1.33*14.7 kilograms of air per minute, or roughly 45 cubic meters of air per minute. That's 45,000 liters of air per minute.
If a V-8 engine is turning at 6,000 rpm, it can inhale a total of 24,000 cylinders' full of air per minute. If it needs to inhale 45,000 liters of air per minute, it works out to roughly 2 liters per cylinder-full. That's a 16-liter engine.
