READ THE MANUAL!!!
For all you RETARDS out there askin some stupid *** questions like oil change info, basic maintenance questions and other such absolutely STUPID postings, why not try READING THE DAMN MANUAL? It clearly states when you should change your oil, how long the break in period is, stats on the car, all kinds of info that can easily be found by using the index. Just get tired of seein such stupid questions and posts about subjects that are clearly discussed in the owner's manual that you were given when you bought your cars!
what crawled up your azz this morning. for a newbie you are awful pushy. I would watch yourself or you wont last too long on this forum. So does everybody else agree????????

Word! Before you post a single thread or message on this board you should:
1. Go to the Honda website if you don't own a civic yet.
2. Read the manual if you have a civic already.
3. Search the board before asking a question.
4. Read the FAQ to see if your question is already answered.
That's about it. Once you do this it would be nice if you took the following into account:
1. Ask your question clearly, so that you don't have to repeat yourself.
2. You are what you post, so get into the habit of building up your reputation.
3. Keep modem users in mind. Post small pictures, link to large ones, etc.
4. Read every thread all the way through before replying to it.
Follow those rules and the board will be a happy place.

Remember what the forums are here for. To ask questions. Yeah, I know that a lot of stuff has been asked repeatedly but consider the following:
I've been to both the US and Canadian Honda sites and all I've ever found were stuff you'd see in the brochure. The Honda website isn't that informative, ya know?
As Grey mentioned, not everyone has the manual yet. This site may affect their decision to buy a Civic.
Also, keep in mind newbies want to get their member status. Posts = member status.
Responses come in really fast from tons of users. Subscribing to an old thread does you no good if you need stuff clarified.
Different people want different details about stuff ranging from very specific to really general.
Also, opinions change over time if new/better stuff comes out or if something suddenly becomes a fad.
I'm actually surprised this wasn't addressed to newbies. That's good. They've taken a lot already. It just seems like people are trying to make this an exclusive place when you see that stuff.

Well, I don't mean to say that you should know everything you need to know before coming to this site. This site is for people who have no clue at all. I'm just stating the above to let people without a clue know what they should do. I mean, nobody told me the stuff I posted and I did it anyway. I read the manual, I searched for the questions that I had that were already answered. Sure, there are special cases to these "rules". They're actually more like suggestions. I don't want to make this place exclusive, but I do want to prevent the newbie's from making fools of themselves. Read read read, then ask. Rinse and repeat. Always assume you know nothing. It's humbleness that gets respect. That's all I mean to say.

FACT: this is my FIRST posting on THIS website.
FACT: im annoyed at some of the stupid REPETITIVE questions i see.
FACT: im not necessarily blastin anyone in particular.
Now the reason i havent posted is i havent felt a need to. The search tool usually takes care of any questions i have had. Yes i just registered to this website but ive been using this site for far more time than most senior members. Also just because someone has 2500 posts about nonsense and they are a super ultra mega mega member does NOT mean they know more than someone who has no posts. The simple reason for me initially posting was to point out that instead of people hoppin on and askin 5 bajilion questions OR just jumpin right in and undertaking a project....READ THE MANUAL! I've seen numerous posts about "when should i change my oil?", "when should i shift?", "how long is the break in period?" and oher such topics that are discussed in the manual. So before someone jumps all in with their opinion of no importance to me, try UNDERSTANDING and COMPREHENDING what I'm saying.

I totally agree with you there. If you've got the manual, read it. I don't have the manual though. Actually, won't have the car until later this week (Limited Civic Si-Veloz available only in Canada). My point is as valid as yours. When buying a car, would you go through every manual of every car you're considering?
I also agree that just because someone's got tons of posts doesn't mean anything. However, having at least member status lets you post your car pics up.
Anyway, I know how you feel. I just skip stuff of little or no interest.

For people that don't have the manual: 2001 Honda Civic Owner's Manual
I have already added this to the next version of the FAQ too.

Heck, I read my owner's manual sitting in the car as soon as parked in my drive way. I have always done that with each of my cars. It's good to search the site for big topics and the most commonly discussed issues. You learn alot very fast and thus, you'll be a member that contributes to the discussions. The repetitive threads on the same issues didn't used to bother me much but after being around for several weeks now, it seems it has become a iterative process. It's frustrating when you see 3 threads on the first page with the same topic. It's laziness and a waste of server space.
natas. just the name pisses me off. satan backwards, that's cool lemme tell ya. has that rapper even had an album out in the past 6 years? good point about the manual though, just do us all a favor...take the stick out of your @ss, im sure you dont have all the answers to everything even if you have just been coming here for a longer amount of time than most members. is it the rapper or the devil himself that you envy?

you can be staight and to the point without using all caps. You can also do it buy not having to capitalize the bad points of your message. I agree that everyone should read the manual about the simple things you have listed, but if they didnt, oh well. simply tell them to turn to page #? of their manual and find it. You arent just making a point, but you seem to be yelling at anyone who made the mistake. My 2 cents.
