Rep Power: 0 I doubt cops will buy a mercury. lol. they already have special engines in the crown vics. I thought they had Big Block V8s. Probably more power than that mercury.

Rep Power: 0 What pisses me off is when you see a car like that behind you or coming along on the interstate and get all scared and worried. Then, come to find out, Grandpa and Grandma are out cruising.

Rep Power: 0 At least if you get a white crown vic with limo tint windows, you'd hardly ever be pulled over for speeding.... what traffic cop wants to pull over his boss

Rep Power: 0 I doubt Mercurys will become fleet standard too. They are more expensive than the Ford models and do not offer the Police Interceptor package that police departments can purchase with the Crown Vics. I myself drive either a marked, 2002 Crown Vic Police Interceptor, or lately, I have been driving a slick top (marked, but all hidden strobes and no overhead lights) 2002 Crown Vic. They go extremely fast!

The Police Crown Victoria's do not have big block engines. They don't have any horsepower enhancements made to the engine. The enhancements made to these "special service" vehicles are made mainly for durability. They may have special coolant hoses, oil coolers, transmission coolers, chassis reinforcements, high output alternators, etc.
The motor is probably the regular 4.6 V8 with the towing package, which adds dual exhaust and heavy duty suspension components. These engines were rated at 225 hp.
...or something...

Yea I looked into it and they only have the 281 V8. But I wouldn't be surprised if they have a little bit of extra performance. Listen to the cop "They go extremely fast! ".
Also, I was reading up on it, and someone that bought a police interceptor from an auction, claims that he hit 130mph in his car and still had 2 inches to the floor board.

I think you are correct. The other mods I heard about are a larger/better/stronger radiator (cops like to idle alot so it needs it), and an exaust system. I think the exaust is what gives it a little more umph than the regular vic. They really aren't that fast compared to alot of other cars, but, it's strength in numbers.

Rep Power: 0 I've done in the high 120s in my PI once. It is probably one of the most powerful vehicles I have ever driven. I've been involved in two pursuits in my career, both with late model german vehicles, and I got the person each time.

Rep Power: 0 In a few southern states, police departments are using police intercepter pontiac GTP's. Blown with a 3.4 pulley. I think they get about 250 to the wheels (front) one bad police car.
for a few years they used chevy impala ss's for the police cruisers, but not exactly an SS, just an impala with the LT1. In ohio, i heard that cops don't have to follow emmissions, i doubt thats true

Rep Power: 325 those police cars are nothing. the caroline's have z-28 camaros. my dad is a police capitan and he got to drive one when he was up there. he got to 150 like it was nothing and they will do 165. the thing is that most of them are stealth so you cant tell them apart from normal ones.
