the tint guy used DISH SOAP!!!
i recently got my windows tinted and while he was apply the tint, i noticed that he used dish soap and water to clean my windows and he also used it to make the film stick to the window... while doing so, he got the dish soap and water all over my interior and a whole bunch of places on the exterior paint of my car... ..... anyways, i haven't noticed anything wrong with my paint in the areas that he sprayed but should i expect something to appear such as faded areas or places where the clear coat is stripped? did he apply the tint right as far as using the right liquid to apply the film?
For tinting windows, you use one small squirt for a qallon water bottle sprayer. The soap adds just enough of lubrication to the water and is harmless. And like everyone else said, the soap does not eat your paint, it merely strips your wax from you car, which is bad. Car soaps are better because they do not remove the wax. But you can always wax it every week and you will get at least 10 hp!
Highly experienced window tinters DO NOT use dish soap as it leaves 1. spots of debris under the tint from the grit that is in the soap that helps scrub the dishes 2. becuase yes it does strip wax and leave the paint exposed 3. becuase it will lightly streak the interior and we dont have time to re-Armor-All someones car for them and 4. Dishsoap causes premature film failure as it does not allow the maximum film adhesion to the glass.
But all in all.. there is not legitimate reason to have it redone unless its a bad install for workmanship. The premature film failure is an issue of 3/4 years vs the normal failure rate of 7/8 years.
