Well Guys, I traded my 2k1 Civic in for a.......
Well Guys, I traded my 2k1 Civic in for a 2001 Prelude. I just couldn't handle the "slowness" of my Civic anymore.
I was thinking of trading my Civic in for a RSX Type S, but really was kind of disgusted with it's looks and the loudness of the engine above 3000 RPMs. So I started test driving the Preludes and figured that they were a better fit for me. So I am now a proud owner of a 2001 Prelude, H22 - 2.2L DOHC VTEC, with 200 HP and SportShift Transmission. The other thing I really liked about the Prelude was that it was 100% made in Japan and imported to the US. Kind of weird buying a New 2001, since it is almost 2003 (by car release). But my Civic was made in Ohio and I didn't care too much for that. But I guess the main thing was that I read an article about the Prototype 2001 Civic and they had put tons of cash into that car, custom manifold and all kinds of chit, and they only got it up to 170. I knew at that point, I had to have a faster car...
Thanks for listening.

Thanks man, I appreciate the congrats !!
What was cool was that the dealership down in Houston took my Civic with all the mods on it and still gave me a good price, so I am paying about the same per month for the Prelude, but a little more because I was about 2 grand upside down since I have only had it for 8 months......
Go check them out, they are running great deals on them since they are discontinued and they are 2001 models and the 2003's will be out here in a few months !! I got mine for 20, straight up, and they sticker for 24,600....not too bad !! It runs real nice and is very quick, exactly what I was after

It's an Auto, but you can switch it to SportShift where you can shift gears, without a clutch obviously, but very nice...you get the quickness of a manual with the ease of an auto....and I was looking for a Type SH Prelude with a 5 speed, but they were none in Texas, or so I was told by David McDavid Honda.....may be true, I called a lot of dealerships...from Dallas to Austin, and no one had a 5 speed, or a 5 speed Type SH. But the Sport Shift rocks dude !! In MO.
Congrats on the new ride! I'm surprise you can still find a new lude these days since they discontinue it this year.
Sportshift is an automatic with the up/down gear selector gate on the shifter. The mechanism is 100% automatic and you'll be nowhere near as fast as a manual tranny on the same car. But heck...a lude is always nice!
You won't be able to find a SH. They're only available for the 97-99 model year.

<< anyone know of a lude site like this one? >>
HondaPrelude.com - I am a member on that site. I was looking into getting a Prelude so I registered there and asked some questions. They are a great group of people. I still visit there every once in a while and see what's going on.

Bad ***...thanks Guys....for the site links !! I was wondering where I could find a good Lude Site...
My payments for the lude are 400 a month. A little more than before -
340 (for the Civic), because I was upside down by 2 grand. Very worth it though....!!

Congrats man welcome to a car with a worthwhile Honda engine
Dont listen to all the crap with the sportshift...I drove a 97 Prelude with it and loved it, wouldn't mind stickin that tranny in my 2k1
Post some pics of it when you get the chance.

dude my mom bought a 2001 prelude about 3 months ago too, i get to drive it if i was it, so its sorta mine
all you people saying the sportshifter sucks are messed up. It shifts 2 times faster than hondas best tester!! so really it is awesome. BUT its not quite as much fun as a 5 spd. but the 73 extra hp make up for it
