To auto Technicians, Please respond
Well this is geared toward anyone who is in the technician industry and owns a great deal of tools that equal a great deal of money. But anyones input will help.
My question is, if you own tools, are they insured? Or who did you insure them through?
I dropped off my tools and box yesterday at the dealership and asked the service manager about tool insurance and he said they dont offer it and in his 20 years as a manager he has never seen any problems. Well I want to insure my tools incase any thing does ever happen. Besides, I didnt spend all of this money for nothing. Snap on tools werent cheap.
So what is the best route to go. I cant find much info online, so thats why I came here.

Hmmm, i've got a Snap-on top box and roll cab full of Mac and Snap-on gear. Mine's insured under the company insurance as far as i know. Well, at least i think it is. Might do me well to check this out too.

I cant use my parents because I dont live in the same state. Basically I need to find something here in florida.
I myself have only about $10,000 worth of snap on tools now. 2 boxes and a **** load of tools. Paid only $5000 for them with school discount, but even still this is what I am going to use to make a living.

I consider snap on and mac tool to be around the same. they both run high prices on there tools. I also got most of my tools at 50% off from school which was good.
I have been searching the net but still cant find anything.

Rockin about 20k in tools from snap-on and mac insured all through the same co. as my house. KEEP ALL RECEIPTS cause they will ask for them to prove ya have what you say you have.
If your ins co will not do it or do not offer it others will just call around.Another good thing to do is ask the snap-on guy he can prolly set you up with a name. Not sure if they insure or not even if they did prolly hella expensive :P

also, I work in the toyota dealer near here. Our dealer insures all our stuff as long as we have a record of what we own. So no worries for me.
