Hey guys,
I am doing a study about the 18-30 age group in the auto industry. It's just me and the other co-op student, both girls, both don't know anything about cars, so we do need your honest responses!

2001 Civic EX Coupe in Satin Silver Metallic (purchased new)
Yes I have modified my honda
I have made engine and suspension modifications, and stereo modifications/swaps... I have not and will not do exterior mods with the exception of a Honda Underbody Spoiler kit.
I have/will do all modifications myself.
I purchase the majority of my parts from a local aftermarket store, and some I purchase from ebay.
Comments:
Since you put Honda vs Toyota I must make a comment. Though I love my civic and dislike the current celica, my preferred car manufacturer is Toyota. IMHO Toyota is a much better manufacturer of vehicles than honda.

Was waiting for another car 2k3 to get in tha summer other than honda but i wrote off my other car and needed
a car really fast and got a 2k2 civic .....if i didn't write the car off i would have gotten an 2k2 ALTIMA or a JETTA

2k2 Honda civic 4dr LX-G.....BRAND NEW.....(still has the new smell)

yes i am because this car is already done up and looks weird as stock and i'm starting to see this model around once in a while
so i gotta try and make mine original as possible because they are mostly old folks since it's a 4 door.
What kinds of modifications have you made to your Honda, what will you do in the future?
I havent touched the car at all yet ......but i plan on doing minimal mods until i get out of this warrantee
i plan on Lowering , Tint, Rims.
Who will be performing these modifications, you, dealership, or other? Approx. how much did/will you spend?
i got a few people around that i trust on my new baby wont be paying too much. maybe a sac of Herbs or a 2-4 of beer.

This car is doing a good job at not stressin me still waiting for some type of issue i hear about but i'm treating
this car like my kid so i dont think anything is gonna start until i try and mod it.
Its kind of annoying when you go on the damn street and see a Honda Civic that is the same colour as yours but
i'm starting to get used to it ......... and plus because i have the sport model of the sedan i feel a bit better because
there is a limited amount of them.........HONDA IS AIIGHT

Why did you purchase a Honda over Toyota?
The price played a small part, Hondas are usually cheaper with the same great build quality. I don't like the Toyotas that are in production now, Celica looks dumb and the Echo...wtf.

Hondas are some of the best-made cars out there, there have been two in my family to cruise well past the 200k mark on the odometer. In my opinion Hondas generally look better than Toyotas- some of the style from Lexus needs to drip down I guess.

It was as high as I could go for a new car, and it seems like the best choice in that price range. I would've bought a Toyota (Matrix, RAV4, Camry, etc) most likely, if I had more money. And now I'd really love to have that Corolla S, looks real nice.

I bought a honda because of realiability, engineering, and resale value. Honda is the best at building cars. Honda has aftermarket support up the yang, several magazines that feature mostly hondas, and are more reliable than toyota.

Did/will you modify your honda? why?: Im into the extreme, and its a great hobby. Plus i wanna make my baby even more beautiful than what she is.
What kinds of modifications have you made to your Honda, what will you do in the future? Altezzas/LED lights on windshield washers and my tag/also stickers....cause stickers make u go FaStEr!!! j/k In a month or so ill be gettin rims/body kit/ engine mods/audio system/interior work. Basically everything u can imagine with $9,000. Have friends that can do work here and there and save me alot of money as well
Who will be performing these modifications, you, dealership, or other? Approx. how much did/will you spend? some friends, im still lookin for a shop to hookup with. Living in Mississippi does not help my import desires. ive spent maybe $500 so far, $9000 more by April.

Toyota is a bully to Honda...when honda tried to start a car company during the post ww2 era toyota with the help of the government tried all avenues to stop soroichiro honda...they failed...toyota then went to war against honda...several times toyota employed spies who tried to steal honda's technology during the 70s & 80s...toyota was never a company based on racing (like honda, ferrari, or bmw)...so toyota joined cart and pushed its way with the series (toyota spent millions upon millions in advertising) getting cart to change the rules to overcome competitive advantages of other mfgrs this involved the intake plenum incident last year where toyota threatened to pull advertising money unless cart did something...the plenum used by ford and honda were developed over years of experience and within the rules. toyota pushed cart to break its 4 year (engine rule change policy) to produce an irl spec 3.5 liter v8 engine which toyota was already building (gaining a 2 year headstart over ford and honda)...ford and honda pulled support and are leaving cart at the end of 2002...toyota bought chip ganasty racing after it won an unprecedented 4 championships in a row...toyota then produced commercials about the target team implying that they won those 4 championships (which were in fact hondas wins)...toyota then took juan montoyas new toyota powered to the tokyo auto show and displayed the 4 drivers championships again implying their success in cart
in f1 toyota has tried over the past 2 years to change the engine from its 3.0 normally aspirated status to a different one so toyota can eliminate advantages the other teams have had b/c of their experience...at toyota its politics and business over respect for racing...for me actions speak louder than words...and honda goes along quietly doing their business

so far, i only have a strut bar and cleared headlights, and some aftermarket fogs. In the future: intake, exhaust, lowering it, a system and possibly a body kit.

i want to do as much as possible myself, and if i can't, i'd take it to a body shop. Hoe much would i spend..hm...at least 2 grand.

yes i have, because it's a new hobby and something i enjoy.
What kinds of modifications have you made to your Honda, what will you do in the future?
so far, i only have a strut bar and cleared headlights, and some aftermarket fogs. In the future: intake, exhaust, lowering it, a system and possibly a body kit.
Who will be performing these modifications, you, dealership, or other? Approx. how much did/will you spend?
i want to do as much as possible myself, and if i can't, i'd take it to a body shop. Hoe much would i spend..hm...at least 2 grand.
Where did you purchase these parts/accessories? Dealership, After market store, internet, other?
varies depending on product...i've been shopping online and at stores.
