decisions, decisions....

Alright, When i added up the cost of moddin a 7th gen civic to make it sweet. I came out with the fact that i could buy many other cars. So, what should i do? go all out on the civic, buy a used RSX-S, a used Celica GT-S, a Used 5th gen Prelude (those are actually cheap), a 99/00 SiR and get a Vortech SC. Any other suggestions? and what should i be doing with my money

I've rode in a Vortech Supercharged SI, amazing. When V-TEC came in it's tires began to spin...

alright, I'm leaning towards a 97 or 98 lude. should only cost a few hundred dollars!

Well, sounds like the decision is real easy. You are already unhappy with your civic it seems. If all you care about is speed, then I would get rid of it and buy the 99-00 si coupe. The preludes are nice but the civic has a lot more potential as far as aftermarket options.

I think he means after selling his civic he will only have to put up a few hundred more for the lude...

Eclipse's are great performers..but bad cars. They are known to "crankwalk" which is very bad. Not very reliable, but very expensive to repair...horrible transmission.

if you knew what you were talking about speed demon, you wouldn't "turbo a lude", that things a great car, but heavy as f*ck, wrong car if you wanna go fast, how many 12 or 13 second preludes do you see at the track????....have you been to the track????.....mitsubishi is another way of saying chrysler, which is another way of saying sh*t.....if you really want to go fast, buy a 92 cx h/b, which weighs about 2200lbs, drop a GSR engine into it, with a turbo/intercooler kit running around 8-10psi, then you'll go fast, and for the same price as a 98 prelude........

did you ever hear me say i wanted to go fast. it's not my main goal. haha, I've never been flamed before. But, genious. I want to have a quick street car, that looks good, and is a good daily driver. Am I after a 12 second car, no. Honestly. do you think I've made 2000 posts without knowing about a 5th gen hatchback running a b20longblock with a b16 or b18 head? or a hatch with an h22. both cheap ways of goin fast. I know man. Also, do you think i don't know what DSM is? i want to be unique. and you really think the lancer evo is junk eh? burn your DX anyday. And i didn't look up that you had a DX either. I know, because I actaully have an idea of who you are on the forum. now, i'm not out to get this thread locked so peace.

YES YES YES!!! Someone finally said it ....MR2 Turbo is the way to go....it comes fast, won't require a full engine swap to run fast, but the only problem is finding one that is in good condition, and not ragged out. My buddy bought a yellow 93 turbo in good shape....whoa man its great, also a great daily driver, and is reliable. Overall its the best choice in my mind, as far as having a quick daily driver thats reliable and not hassling with hybrid problems.

Well it makes sense to me. Does he not have the right to a wide range of options?...maybe he likes all "three completely different cars" for different reasons and wants advice. So flaming won't help your case or his, and while we're on 'the original thread' topic, i don't think hard criticism was the requested response.

ok, reasons for the Celica GTS, RSX-S, Prelude, and SC SiR. makes sense to me. I'm balancing out what i can do for rougly the same amount of money. Since an SiR is cheaper, i could put the vortech Supercharger on (Bolt on that makes about 260hp). they all come in at around 20,000. and should all make suitable daily drivers. the SiR would be the least suitable i think, but whatever.

now i don't even know what you were talking about when you said longblock, but what I was refering to would be a b20 longblock (block out of the old CR-V), 2.0 liter, so bigger than any other bseries block, thus you would get the best of both worlds if you were to build a hybrid of the b20 and a b16b or b18c5 (but those are high compressions cylinder heads, not ideal if your going for a FI setup). I may still build a car for speed, but I'd rather go with the 6th gen hatch, just because i like the way they look. make it a type R. If i do so I will build a b20/b18 hybrid.

Back to the topic at hand. I just want a car. so I was looking at many possibilities. of course there are more than the three of four i initially posted, but i don't want some tiny *** hatchback with a montser under the hood as my daily driver, I want a comfortable NEW sport compact car! keep that in mind, a hatchback will probably be my project car. And finally, when did i ever mention the track?

I know the other cars have better performance and everything but don't you think you're just going to end up modding it like the civic. Seems like the money is going to get spent either way. Just something to think about.

1973...wtf?! You make no sense man. You think you can only compare the pros and cons of IDENTICAL cars?!?! The word "comparison" kind of loses its meaning then doesn't it? He's working within a PRICE RANGE and a inclination towards imports, which makes his question a TOTALLY VALID one. Hell, i could compare the pros and cons of buying a 1998 Z28 vs a 1994 GSR and still have a valid question.

Also, simply because a turbo'd lude wont run a 12 second ET doesn't mean that a turbo isnt a valid power booster.

Like he said, 1973, run his turbo lude in your DX and he's show you a new definition of the word DATE rape.....

Crawl back to the hole from whence you came.

Peace.

lude? well thats a nice car to do up. alot of parts out for it. but guess what alot of guyz want the engine but if i were u ive lean toward a rsx-S, not cuz its a next gen teg.
only because it looks like alot of parts are gonna be coming out with it. and its way better saying that u got a 2002 rsx-s <----girls will love u for this ( this is how i think so sorrie if i offend anyone)
rather than saying i have a lude thats really tight. i sat in one before and drove one and i cant see anything..maybe im not used to it. i do agree having a lude is great but the only downfall is that is heavy. why not go with a v6 accord? that will smoke a lude anyday in the high way lolz....cuz of the higher torque.
as for the mr2 turbo its a nice car BUT...look at it...its pretty old and how many mr2 turbo are u gonna find that is in the 93 series and up. not many and its hard to find. and u would have to have the turbo's and engine rebuilt.

hmmmm 2002 Acura RSX Type-S. I like the ring of that. Better than whenever I say, " I have a 2001 Honda Civic Si" They are already kinda shocked. haah. Acura.

Hey,

You could always just save up some more for the STi and Lancer EVO.

Don't you just hate it when you lay down the scenario of your situation, like stating a budget but 100% of those times, somebody always says, just wait and get something above the budget stating "Its only a couple of extra bucks anyways."

Heh

there's also the issue that they aren't available yet. but judging by the cost of a WRX already, a base WRX comes in over my desired budget.

u can either go

"what kind of car do you have?"
"an acura rsx.."
"oh"

or

"what kind of car do you have?"
"oh yes, i own a mercedes-benz c230 kompressor"
"oh wow! is it that 2 door mercedes?"
"yes..."

(most of the people think kompressor = slk)
