If the hybrid was considered more desirable (and, yes, I am buying a sedan) maybe this could be used to my advantage when negotiating price for the older style non-hybrid Civic EX sedan? Or is that wishful thinking and not realistic.
Dealer today quoted me $500 over invoice (3%) for an EX sedan w/ everything.
Local buying service offering 2% over invoice.
I hear the special APR extends until the end of the month.
Can't I get one at invoice OR LOWER?

You need to call another honda and tell them the quote from that dealer. They should beat the price. If that doesn't do it, just buy it through carsdirect.com. However, you still have to figure in the cost of financing. It's costing me like 370 to borrow around 8k @2.9 from honda.
You need to go into the dealer and haggle and get their best price. Let them know you are ready to buy it right then. After getting their best deal, go to another honda dealer and tell them what joeblow will sell it to ya for. Tell them you'd rather buy it from joeblow but a better deal would change your mind. Do that and you will get the best deal possible, trust me.
And 500 is the max you want to pay over invoice. 16200-16300 would be a great deal if it includes mats/mudguards.

<< pro = enviroment friendly
= better gas mileage
cons = more expensive? >>
Yes, it is more expensive...
Another con is it's rear bumper. I never liked the look of the new sedan (there is one sedan I like!) and the hybrid doesn't look better sorry to say... by the way...
How is this gonna effect the member's rides section? We have a NEW Si coming and a new Civic Hybrid? I guess I should be PMing someone.
if i was an enviromemental freak, or just mental freak minus the enviro... come on if you were a tru import enthusist \, you wouldn't touch an enviro hybrid... you shouldn't even come on this forum cause majority of members on this forum, are looking to mod their cars performance or looks.... you can't mod that car for performance.... if you modified it's looks it'd slow it down cause of the weight...LOL I personally wouldn't buy it at this time in my life. If I was older, maybe. I accept all kinds of imports no matter what kind of engine they have. I was watching this import racing dvd the other day, and this guy had an Accord station wagon customized into a convertible. He spent $45000 on that. I just shook my head. He could have gotten a new Lexus for that kind of cash.

if you were a true import enthusiast, you also wouldn't go anywhere near a 7th generation SOHC civic, which of course 99% of people here have... and so... hehe
anyway, i could see some potential with that, if they offered it as a coupe, but with much lighter weight and similar handling, you could turn it into a nice looking, nice handling car that can barely move... if offered as a good price, i could see it selling pretty well.. as is, i can see a boaty civic hybrid sedan selling well, a slightly sportier 2-door could reach even more people, who need the space of a prius but without the ugly looks
I'm all for the gas milage, but I personally wouldn't buy it.... look at the Insight, not exactly Honda's most popular vehicle. I would rather just pay for more gas and enjoy some punch in my engine's powerband.
I wouldn't buy it. I did some math to see in the thread "Saw the new 7th gen gas/electric hybrid today" and the savings from the gas mileage don't make up for its high purchase price. (click here to see my math: my math).
The Civic GX (the one that uses compressed natural gas [CNG]) might be worth the cost because of the tax savings and because you can drive in the HOV lane without another occupant in some states as long as you have a SULEV.
