350z or Evo IX
Depends on your needs. Get an Evo if you want that mechanical connection with driving and a huge back seat, a 350Z for style and maybe more comfort and luxury, or a Civic Si if you want lower running cost and lightweight and still a lot of performance plus the $10,000 you saved on whatever you want.
Two very different cars which share very few similarities. S2000 and Z are much similar, just as EVO and STi.
I owned a 05 S2000 for 8 months. When compared to the Z, its light and it drives that way. Takes speeds at much faster turns, and reacts much quicker to the driver's desire. The Z has a bit more luxury items, a lot roomier inside, faster around town with the torque, and hardly gives up much to the road and should be a lot more comfortable than the s2k. The S would drive me nuts as having it for a daily driver. You could feel virtually every bump and groove in the road, it was very very jittery.
EVO in a way shares some similarities to the S. Builts power a little bit later than the STi, and has been known to take corners at slightly higher speeds than the STi. It is all in the AWD characteristics. The STi gains its speed from trying to muscle its way through a corner and after the understeer the car uses force to gain speed. The EVO uses more finesse in the way it handles corners. The EVO has a rev limit at 5k in nuetral. EVO would show slightly less understeer but would not be able to show any oversteer because the STi has the active center differential. In 04/05, this allows the car 65/35 front/rear power distribution in AUTO mode. Pushed all the way back, it sends a ratio similar to 20/80. 06 STi's have 59/41 in standard auto mode.

It's interesting you hve narrowed your choices down to these two cars. I say that, because although both are very high performance machines, neither are purpose-built sports cars. Before you start to flame me for saying the 350Z isn't a sports car, re-read what I wrote. I said purpose built. The 350Z is an amazing car both from an exterior point of view and perrformance, as well. The thought and brilliant engineering poured into the drivetrain, engine, and suspension is unparalleled within it's price category. Sure, there are cars that will out-run it, both in the quarter and on a road racing track, but they will cost much, much more. Take for consideration a car such as the Porsche Boxster. This is a car that it built for one purpose: to perform. Why is the Z so much cheaper? One simple reason: platform engineering. Like many manufacturers, Nissan reduces costs by sharing components between vehicles. While it's not immideately obvious, the 350Z/G35 shares many parts with the Murano/FX35 and 45. This results in many parts on the Z car being vastly heavier than is necessary for a two-seat sports car. While this may sound like Nissan is cutting corners, take a look at the end result: A beautiful car with almost unlimited performance potential, ease of maintainence, and, the reason for the platform engineering, a reduced bottom line. Without this "corner cutting" we would not have a Z car for under 30,000 if at all.
And the Evo family of cars? There's no disputing the heritage there. It's an economy car reworked with world-class engineering, and the result is one of the finest production track cars on the market.
Just some food for thought.

This has been discussed already many times. All this is going to turn into is a fight between the EVO fans and the 350z fans. 2 completly diffrent cars. But EVO IX faster, handles better, more room, and imo looks better. If not get a G35 because its much nicer than the 350z.
Smuggling bananas and mexicans all for one low price...

This is an apple to oranges debate. Jesus, get the one that YOU want more. There is no comparing these 3 cars.
Smuggler, you hit the nail on the head. These are three completely different cars built for (maybe not completely) different purposes. Between the three of them, they've even got all possible drivetrain combinations covered, unless there's another I'm not aware of. Need a time-tested technique? Go with the dart-board selection process.
You're 19 and you want to be driving a 350Z or an Evo? I guess you won't be paying insurance and stuff.
I'd say stick with the SI and pay for everything yourself. That'll feel way better than cruising around in someone else's Z or IX.

^word...
if it was me id wait till your insurance goes down when your 20 something, and untill then get the Si to play around with... then once youre not paying so much.. dont get a Z or evo, get an S2k!

yea just test drive them all and see which one you like the most. YOU being the key word here. As with anything in life, be yourself.
