Question Fan Question

I posted this in another forum but it wasn't getting anything....

Can anybody tell my why turning the key forward (not starting the engine) would cause both my fans to come on. I didn't have the AC on or anything. I was just rolling up my windows and both fans came on for about 15 seconds then went off.

fans can kick in even after step you outta the car. To play it safe I disconnect power to the fans before working near that viscinity.

Fans are turned off/on by a signal from the ecu. temperature sensor is usually what tells the ecu to kick the fans on.

My best guess is - The sensor could have just sent the ecu the message to turn the fan on, just before you shut the car off. that signal got stored in the ecu's RAM, so the next time you turned the power on (key on, engine off) the ecu executed it.
