what exactly is the purpose of a dual exhaust? just looks? or what?

what happens if i put a connection to my piping and get a dual exhaust?

you will lose horsepower because you will be losing back pressure running 2 exhausts instead of one. If you had a bigger engine(V6), it would be able to push out all the back pressure without a problem.

Iwas thinking of running a pipe to a single muffler and after that putting in a y pipe to split it dual only reason i wanna do this is cuz i got the xenon kit and the other side looks kinda empty without a tip

losing backpressure is a good thing always. dont be fooled by the backpressure myth. tuning a pressure wave to help scavenge the cylinder is one thing (and much, much more important on a 2 stroke than on a four stroke, remember, we have valves), but with our lil ole cars removing back pressure is a good thing. You dont however need dual pipes, once single pipe with a header and good tubing is more than enough to remove power robbing back pressure. dual pipes = uncle bens instant rice

Dummies are a good choice if that's the look you're going for. Dual exhaust WILL cause you to loose back pressure, and on our honda's that's not a good thing. I don't care what they say.

That's why you only see V8's with dual exhaust they can afford it. We can't. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

It's true, people go around talking about...."our hondas need backpressure" and they don't even know what they are talking about. Please, research backpressure, wave tuning, etc. before you say that it's gonna cause power loss.

Yea, I heard of both those cars....however, they have a lot more horsepower than we do at 127.
I'm not so sure about the backpressure myth, but usually, a civic's engine isn't sucking in a lot of air, then carburating it quick enough to shoot out the pipe, causing loss in horsepower. Now, if you have it all balanced out, then sure, get duals and it will work out fine.

If you are so concerned with back pressure, just brach off with a smaller diameter pipe to the 2nd muffler. If you don't know the facts of back pressure pick up a back issue of super street or Sport compact. They are constantly writing that you want back pressure but you don't need a lot. Those guys are absolutely right about not worrying about back pressure and that is a myth. Get the facts straight before you question them!
