scheduled maintence
Does any take thier scheduled maitance to the dealership when the maintence lights comes on? I did it for my 10k one all they do is "check" the fluids and changed the oil for like 65 bucks and now I am at 25k and i checked all they do is change oil, rotate tires, check the fluids all for like 100$
around 8,000 miles the light will start flashing for a few seconds when ya start the car, then at 10,000 miles it will come on & stay on until you reset it. To reset it all ya gotta do is turn the key on, push & hold the trip-odometer button in on the dash for about 10 seconds & the light will go off. I still have the dealer change my oil, its cheaper than the oil change places & I'm too lazy/busy to do it myself. The dealer charges me $22 & the oil change places want $27. That light I would imagine would come on every 10,000 miles.
all you have to do is reset it and it will go away. do what he explains in the post above mine. it only comes on so the dealer can make more money off of your stupid a$$. i hate the dealership and all of there tricks.

Yeah, I would suggest all of you check how much your dealership will change the oil for you. I bought the Synthetic Motorcraft oil from AutoZone for $8 + tax ($1.99 x 4 qts.). I told the dealership that I had my own oil, and he said that they would change the oil and replace the oil filter (which is done anyways during an oil change) with a Honda filter for $12.xx + tax. So basically, I got my oil changed by Honda using synthetic oil for a bit over $20 total when regular places charge me like $25-$27 for an oem filter and regular oil. So don't necessarily count your dealership out. (This was in Ithaca, NY btw, I goto Cornell).

Read the back of your manual, it tells you when stuff should be done. I change my oil myself, or I will (haven't had to do it yet). You can buy the 5-quart jug of Mobil 1 5-W30 full synthetic for $17 and a Fram filter for $5. I think the Mobile 1 is better then the dealer stuff.
The owners manual states that the most frequent (severe driving schedule) you need to change your oil is every 5,000 miles, but anywhere between 3,000 & 5,000 miles would be good.
