Anyone with a leased civic??
I don't lease, but I believe you can do whatever you want to it, as long as it doesn't cause any damage to the vehicle. Can either give it back modified or return it to it's original set-up. You'll lose what you put into it though, they won't give you anything. Plus they'll just sell it for more, so they would be happy.

No they really usually dont care because they just take plain ones to the car auctions but if you give them a nicer car they will prolly keep it on there lot and sell it for more.

is their anything you can't do for sure?? I plan on buying it off when the time is up, im just leasing it through high school and college so the payments are lower.
You're going to have a HUGE payment at the end if you decide to buy it. Leasing is never a cheaper way to buy a car. You'll end up paying almost twice as much for the car than it's worth if you lease it for 5-6 years (High School & College).
The bottom line is on a leased car you can do NOTHING to it. On the return, you have to provide them with a clean, well maintained, stock car. Just like you bought it. That is your contract. You can do things and remove them nicely, such as wheels and springs. But YOU have to put it back to stock before you turn it back in. I leased cars a lot and I will never do it again. Too many late night wrench sessions putting it all back to stock. Plus if you don't have 4 good condition tires (all the same size and model) they will charge you for 4 new tires!
If they like your car, they may take it back as is. But realize that a stocker has more resale potential over a customized car. Think of it this way, would your mom buy your car?
I say fix away. But keep all your old parts! Be cautious of doing anything unremovable, like body kits. Buy a can of undercoating to clean up all the scraps from being lowered. Never let them see your car while you are getting ready to turn it in. Technically, every modification you do is theirs. If they see it with 3000 dollar wheels and tires, they may keep them, but I guarantee you will not get a dime from the excess.

They dont seem to care about anything i've done so far..they've seen my 5% tint and i blew a fuse hookin up my winsheild led's. Also whenever i got the car the dealer was telling me how i would've been better off getting a wings west body kit and spoiler over the factory kit and spoiler.

Bottom line is...
You can do anything to it...
bad thing is it HAS to be soemthing you can undo, unless you want to pay for everything to be redone.
I'd suggest buying at end, that is if you want. I am.

I did the math on my lease and I was suprised. (granted this is a special offer) Ok, I pay $181 per month for 4yrs. Then the payoff is 8 G's to keep the car if there's no penalties. This, with the $1000 down payment , comes out to $17,720 total. (19 G's with ttl if you want to include that) Not too bad for a lease. I just can't believe that my monthly pmts are <$200!!!. BUT you end up shelling out $8000 more when the car may only be worth $5000! Kinda messed up!
You're right though, lease buyout or balloon pmts are usually ridiculous. Like 60% of the car value or something.

vtec808... you are right that it will cost more money if you buy at the end of the lease. i think the amount varies with each person though. i figured out rougly, and i do mean roughly how much money its gonna cost me when im done. the number i came up with is a little over $21500 or so. i do realize that this is a lot of money for a civic, but there is a reason why i am doing this. when my lease is up, i will be 3 months from graduating with my bachelors degree. and im going to grad school out on the west coast, this means i need to find a place to live and get a new job etc...paying bills and rent yada yada yada. so im working a lot now and saving money so that hopefully i can just drop a check when the lease is up for the residual value. i know i would have spent a lot of money, but now i dont have to worry about a car payment so i can concentrate more on my masters degree. i plan on driving this car for a very long time. somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-13 years. and by that time, or whenever i get a real job and can afford to, i want to be able to pay for a car outright. so youre right, its not a smart thing to do, but im looking at the long run right now.

The reason the lease payments are so low is because - you are paying for the depreciation of the car. Civic depreciation is low and so is the payment- its worth more in the end, so you pay more after the lease.
In a purchase, you are paying a set amount, so after awhile you owe less than the car is worth (even with a 5 year note).

my payments are about 250 for 5 years and 7 grand to pay off at the end with no down payment. I'm only paying 200 a month and my parents will probably pay if off when it's done so i dont think its too bad for an ex coupe. They dealer was really helpful but the guys that work in the shop part are pretty slow. It took em about 4 days to replace a fuse. Those leds kicked my a$$.
