The new Saturn Sky roadster
Anyone know anything about this car? It looks cool as hell in the commercials. Has anyone seen one, or know the price?

Well its true.
I've seen ONE on the streets here, and I think the car looks incredible. The design is really unique, futuristic, and bold. Its not out to please everyone like a Corvette.
I will be seriously looking at one when the "performance" version is released.
Also, unlike 99.9% of other GM vehicles, this car has a great interior too!

Same car as Solstice,177 Hp.This is the car Pontiac should of had. There's a Turbo coming in the summer.260Hp.I'm in Canada so they start at $27000.00 and top out around $33000.00.Good price for a fun in sun car with looks. To give you an idea of our prices a S2000 starts at $51755.00 with the aero kit $62600.00.Mazda Miata starts around $30000.00 for base and $36000.00 for limited.Load one up you're looking at $40000.00,When the GXP hits showrooms it's going to clean up the small roadster class.IMO Fully loaded GXP Solstice will be $38000.00 260HP and 260TQ Direct Injection.

Their website says it has 260hp, not 177. Or maybe I'm looking at the "performance" version or something. Is that what "redline" means?

The 01-05 Cavalier
The 01-05 Focus
The late Celica etc.
Nothing American really can touch our cars in interior quality in the compact segment, search on Motortrend for the Civic vs. Cavalier article and they show side by side pics.. Harshly criticizing the Cavaliers interior.
Hell, our interior has higher quality plastics than a C5. I'd be pissed if I paid 50k in 2004 for a Cavalier steering wheel and Impala door handles.

Wow, a decent interior on a domestic at a decent price with a decent engine...it hurts to say it, but 'way to go domestics..'. I wasn't very impressed by the new 8th gen interior, GM is trying to catch up to import quality and the best Honda can do to hold it's own is put in some really tacky dual tier gauges..

it's a nice car. i've been in a solstice, its nice, but i dont like the looks. and it seems like GM reliability is going up, and the ECOTECs are holding up very well throughout. overall seems like a good deal, the one thing that GM probably can't improve on very much is resale value.
theres a solstice v. miata article in one of the regular car mags this month, cant remember which one.

S2K over all of those though, but comparing new-to-new, they're $$$$

GM is catching up.They have no choice if they want to sell cars.

Heres some bit that might help you get over the saturn hump. Just think about it as a Opel, not a saturn. The body was designed in europe, I think I read somewhere Birmingham, England. Unfortunately I was noticing that the Opel GT got a 6 speed where as the Sky Redline is only a 5. Trying to cut into a higher priced roadster market they are really going to need that 6 speed. But the normal 177 hp model is pretty much taking aim at the miata, and really might have a chance since they went for agressive styling but as a driver entunsist car, everything I had read the miata has won. But the redline still has yet to be compared. http://www.fast-autos.net/roadTests/4/
You can look at that for the solstice/miata comparision.
Overall major news for GM they may have managed to make * gasp * an appealing mid priced car.
