How loud are the SRT-4 turbo's?

How loud are the SRT-4 turbo's?
I'm just wondering becasue there has been a recent influx of SRT-4's rolling around. I guess being able to buy a used semi-performance sport compact for cheap dosen't help the situation. Thus makeing my want an EVO IX even more. But a few of them flying down the street at work have super loud spooling turbo's. Are is this from the stock mopar upgrades or what? I mean I can here them from my desk with the doors closed. But no still no BOV, why even have a turbo setup with no BOV it takes away from the enjoyment of it imo.
by super loud I mean oh course louder than my T25bb at 10psi, way louder than evo's and wrx's with stock turbo/boost settings.

Rep Power: 0 well there is a such bov that blows the air back to the intake(a vaccum hose leading back to the intake), making it silent. what u are talking about is the open atmosphere bov. (they are the aftermarket kind and they are loud.

I have no BOV, and i'm running ~one bar.
Oh and to answer your question, they could have an open downpipe. When mine was opened it was damn loud.

Rep Power: 284 thers a stage 2 one at my apartment complex and his isnt even loud, no BOV either. like cant even here it, but theres a jetta turboed and you can hear that one spool but no BOV either.

Rep Power: 0 My best friend owns one and he put an intake on it and it made it alot louder. But I dont remember the turbo being so loud that I could hear it from a distance.

Rep Power: 424 All it takes is a cold air intake and you hear those things spool like crazy. The big noise problem with them though is there's no muffler. Its absolutely aweful to cruise on the highway in one of those things, even worse in the back seat.
And its not no BOV, its just recirculated. Thats the way mine is, its far less annoying to not hear pshhhh all the time.

Rep Power: 257 My friend has an SRT-4 with no cat and exhaust ran out the side of the car undernieth the rear passenger side and his is LOUD it sounds like a turbo diesel with open exhaust. Stock turbo, turbo xs RFL BOV, giant front mount. Bigger injectors and yeah hes at 22psi. His car is the loudest **** i have ever heard. if he floors it while your driving next to him it'll all but blow your eardrums out. Hes only running high 13's now but that has alot to do with lack of traction.

exactly. this clown in the apt next to me has one with an intake, bov, and stock exhaust and it is super-annoying loud, makes me chringe when i hear it... he thinks its cool and doesnt sound "rice". srt-4 drivers for ya

Rep Power: 396 Stock most cars come recirculated, BOV's I mean. Recirculation will typically allow less of a loss of boost (less to respool), but you loose the sounds of the atmo bov. That's why alot of people don't hear BOV's on stock cars. Adding an open element filter to a car with a recirculated BOV though will allow you to hear it a little, but not as much as an atmo. The quitest you can get is a closed element (boxed) filter and a recirced BOV.

Rep Power: 257 anyone on here have just a downpipe on there turbo civic? also is that good or bad for the car? this kid alex has a SRT-4 and he has like everything done to it, and hes got a full exhaust, but then he can hit a switch and it moves something to make it just downpipe and he only does it when he races, cuz he said its faster..

Rep Power: 305 you're friend has whats called an exhaust cut-out. these can be mechanically or electrically opened from inside the cab. instead of the exhaust going through the stock exhaust, it is quickly exited out the cut-out. Basically its a switch to let your exhaust come straight out the downpipe or whereever the cut-out is placed (typically right after the downpipe). The reason this is better for turbo cars is because there is no restrictions to stop the flow of exhaust. more flow = faster spooling turbo.

Rep Power: 475 bwahahahah some kid i work with used to have a modded srt 4 and he would always peel out in teh parking lot than a couple of days ago he came with a pickup truck cause he said he messed up the motor buy driving through a puddle and than the motor blew, those cars are such **** and i hate seeing them
