Just got smoked by a GSR

Hey guys,
My friend has a 2000 GS-R. He just got his 50 shot (I think) NOS system set up and he asks me if I want to race. I just started laughing. My car is bone stock right now. He has NOS, AEM CAI, Greddy Evo, DC Sports header, fuel rail, AEM Pulley and other little stuff. So I was like yeah whatever.
We started off and I had absolutely no shot. I was behind the entire race, even from the very get go. By the end of the race I was like 3-4 car lengths behind.
Our civics are soooooooooooooooo slow.

I really wish I had my 2000 Si back. That car was actually pretty quick now that I think about it.

My point of this is I will never ever believe anything I read about our civics beating any reasonably fast car.

LOL

wut did u expect ? especially with a stock civic? our cars are like 126-27 Hp but that's the beauty of our cars you can obtain the speed that u want and that's wut makes it fun if u wanted a fast car (stock) get a viper

I scare the f*ck out of you huh? Ok where in my post do I ever say I had a shot at winning. I started laughing because I knew I was going to lose. However after reading the insane stories of everyone racing everything I thought why not. I thought I would save you the embaressment of trying to race something. Our civics will probably never beat any fast car. Not now at least. And before you flame me anymore about a civic being slow, it is slow, and I wouldn't have bought one if I didn't like it.

I can't believe you actually thought that I believed I would win. Wow, now that would be scary.

And yeah by the way, I think my 2000Si was fast, faster than probably every 2k1 right now.

4 lengths sounds about right for a Si vs 2k1. Even though it's only a 30hp difference, the Si is ratioed very different in gears and final drive ratio. It's also a DOHC and has much larger race cam lobes on its cams than the 2k1. Si's go into mid 15's stock, and you know what the 2k1's do stock. That's enough for several car lengths easy. To be honest, A GSR should have beaten your 2k1 by well more than 3-4 lengths... although what speed did you race to? (i remember GSR's beating my Si by several lengths) And his GSR is fairly modded....

When I started slowing down I was at about 80, so I guess that would be close to a quarter mile.
I talked to my friend and he didn't spray,
Towards the end of the race, he was really really starting to pull away.
If we would have gone to a 100, it would have probably been more than 7 car lengths.

I think my 2000Si might have been able to keep up fairly close, what do you think S2000???

Dude Si and GSR is drivers race stock for stock...once you mod its all on the quality of your parts...B18C1 only has 10hp more and a tad more torque

yeah I think the GSR responds to mods well. My Si was stock when I raced my friend's modded GSR. Yeah by 100 it probably would have been more lengths. But I see stock GSR's getting very low 15's. how good of a driver is your friend? Si vs GSR is possibly a driver's race... but more wins will go the GSR fairly easy. Again, all comes down to gearing, etc. And remember they have a dual stage intake manifold.. it's like having two VTEC points. So yeah, I think your friend needs to learn to drive his GSR. lol. I mean it sounds like he's fairly modded. Is your civic stock??

bwahahahaha

yes...an Si will put 4 cars on an EX ...i'd say it'll take till the top of 3rd to get 4 cars....but..when i raced a modded 2k1 in my Neon, I had 2 cars by 3/4 way thru 2nd...I had 1 car easily in 1st, another by the top of 2nd, and in 3rd I probobly would have put another 2 cars on him....or more...

my shadow...would have put 4 cars on him in 1st gear alone...lol..well..not really...i'd say about 2.5-3 by my shift to 2nd...

its all about the engine trevor.

Even if they were doing a 1/4, w/ equal drivers, The Si would not be alongside the 7th gen. It would be in front of it.

Extra cam, geared for performance, the list goes on and on. Look at the new 2k2 Si. It's heavier than the 7th gen coupe, yet it still pulls faster (supposedly only .2 secs but that has yet to be seen and will probably be faster). Screamin is right while the EX is luggin around 100 and up, the Si keeps going...by the time Im in 5th gear were talkin 120+...fastest Ive personally been was 135.

You wanna go by 1/4th mile times? Click here and search for Honda Civic Si The slowest 1/4th posted here for the 6th gen Si is 14.984 compared to sohc's what 15.7? Like I said...its all about the engine.

My friend has a 2001 GSR and just ran the 1/4 mile for the first time ever last Fri. night. Ran a 15.6 w/AEM CAI and Tanabe racing medallion exhuast. I thought that car could do better than that. Am i right or what?

Didn't know a GSR came in auto.

Anyways, that time sounds acura-te (hehe) to me cuz he needs an exhaust. But I do think he could do better. Tell him to run again. An exhaust should make that # look a lot better.
