State Farm. I have a buttload of discounts such as multi-car, multi-policy (Auto and life) and I took their Steer Clear course when I was 16

Damb 6-8G's? Funk that.. Man i pay 1600 a year! Full coverage, with extras and road side assistance and rental car lol. Im only 23! and have 1 ticket. Tripple A my friend. lol. What did you do to get such high rates and where do you live.. Try switching Zip codes see if it goes down.
Sure there are many variables in insurance cost, such as insurance company, driver record, age, zip code, type of car, etc.. But if you get quotes from insurance companies, where all of the variables mentioned are static, and the only variable you adjust is the make/model of your car, I think you could reasonably come to the conclusion that certain make/models are relatively more expensive than others, no matter what your age or zip code may be.
I mean - we all know that an insurance company is going to generally charge more to insure a Mustang than an Accord - no matter who's driving.
When shopping for my Civic Coupe I compared prices with many insurance companies. I have a clean record. Civic Coupes were relatively more expensive than many other popular cars, such as Accords, Focus, and even the Civic sedan. It was only slightly cheaper than an RSX. I was shocked at how much more exensive the Civic Coupe was. An Accord would have fetched $850 for 6 months. Civic Coupe cost $1050. It has gone up another $120 over the years with no change in driver record, zip code, coverage level, or anything else. (I live in an insurance expensive zip code)
I think it's safe to say that Civic drivers are generally younger, and prone to accidents/tickets - and hence the high insurance rates.

True different cars factor differnt quotes but this is based on the avalibilty for parts on a car in the event of an accident. Ie you have an 00 civic Si vs an 00 Civic Ex. The insurance will be less on the 00 ex because the parts are more abuntand for the d16 then the B16.
Your best bet for insurance is to shop around, and look at where you are shopping around at. Your going to pay for what you get. Ie you pay a little more your going to get better service. you pay a little less you are probably going to get blown of if its your fault. Insurance is shaddy, but everything is factored in when getting a quote. Now the real factor that might hurt you is have you had insurance the entier time? If not its goign to cost a heck of a lot more cause they have no insurance history of you. This is why they ask has your insurance lapsed. And it cost more to start, but the longer you stay the cheeper it will get.
I think car insurance prices are BS. I'm 25, with a clean record. mine was 788 a year. It just went up cuz some jerk wrecked into me. I shouldn't have to pay for him hitting me when it was his fault and they already jacked his rates up to make up for it. Then my brother is 26, has a dui, wrecks, tickets, bankruptcy, bad credit, and his insurance is cheaper than mine. Also an Evo is only $30 more a year. i'm glad 4 doors are cheaper
safe auto, i pay 213/m for full cov. on my civic and eclipse. driving since i was 16 im 20 now almost 21. hoping it will go down when i turn 21, prob not but i can hope and i got 2 speeding tickets.
oh and eightball ur insurance is cheap because u are 25 big big big cut in insurance when u turn 25 BIG!!!!

[QUOTE=TransformedBG]So explain to me why they wanted to charge me a hundred dollars more to moving to a different Zip code no matter who i talked to lol. In fact i just read in the paper that they are just trying to pass a law where they can charge more for insurance for where you live.. So how could that be a static factor? Insurance is bassed off everything.Credit even. Hince why when you apply you have a credit check run.
1) I didn't say that insurance companies hold zip codes 'static". Nor did I imply that insurance companies don't consider zip codes in their premiums. What I said was that if YOU, the insurance SHOPPER, when getting quotes, hold various variables such as zip codes static, and only make the make/model of the car adjustable, you'll find that certain cars such as the Civic Coupe are more expensive than others.
Scatman said it more elegantly and succintly than I.
depends on:
"your driving record
age
gender
the car you buy"
2) "In fact i just read in the paper that they are just trying to pass a law where they can charge more for insurance for where you live.. "
By considering your zip code, insurance companies are making your place of residence a factor in your premium.
If you're living in California, you may have the law backwards. There's a proposal to make "zip code profiling" illegal - ie. remove zip code as a consideration when assessing your insurance premium
