Do Miata's stack up against Civics?

As i browsed through some ebay auctions, i saw the 2000 Miata special edition with 6-speed manual tranny, Bose audio, leather, and beautiful wood accents......so how does the Miata stack up performance and reliability wise to the Civic? And how are the engines as far as stock performance and upgrade capability?

good question bro i'm curious my self...

for all iknow ...they are lighter.... not that much tho, (now that i'm looking at stats)

miata : 2387lbs. 142hp 125 torque
civic ex: 2553lbs 127hp 114torque..

so by #'s i guess the miata wins....easier to mod up..CIVICS

so as many ppl say, these are my two cents; for all it's worth.

got the stats from www.carpoint.com

Funny funny. lol.

The miatas are prolly a little faster than the civics. The fastest stock miatas pull into high 15's low 16's. However, there are some miata owners that are under the illusion that a stock miata can hang with an S2000. miata would proll beat a civic quite easily, da extra hp and torque, just does it, and also, the miata is rearwheel drive which means better to drift in

too bad the miata is a mid life crisis car

you can get JRSC for a miata, easy bolt on power. we can't say that much about the civics. I'd def drive a miata as a 2nd car. maybe i will in a few years. i like em.

Miata....let's see they have more power and they weigh lighter. Also they have the JRSC and the FM turbo kit for them. A miata will handle the civic's A$$ on a silver plate on curves (twisties) and i would think it will own it on a straight away also. But remember a miata is a roadster..it was made to take turn NOT to go in a straight line. I am saving for a miata....they are great for autox. I don't care if you people call it a chick car or whatever...a miata rocks..go test drive a 6 speed and you'll see. I am saving for a Miata LS w/ a 6 speed manual, hardtop, hard dog roll bar, and LSD...also the 5 speed isn't bad, some people actually prefer the 5 speed for in town than the 6....later all

I remember at my old high school there was a teacher who was really nice... some students hated her attitude as a teacher so they f'cking set her car on fire at lunch time... yes, it was a Miata.

I look back on that now and I swear that car was way more worth stealing than burning. But I guess hate can do the worse things.
