03 HX. Is modding worth it?
03 HX. Is modding worth it?
Hello all.
I am very new to this site in fact this is my very first post.
I have a 2003 civic HX 1.7liter 5 speed.
I have done very small amounts of research, and it isn't looking good.
I see plenty of aftermarket parts for every other model but the HX.
I am assuming anything that fits on the EX,LX, and DX should fit on my HX am I wrong?
I am not looking to make this car SUPER fast I just want it to have a little zip, do you guys think this is possible?
Any suggestions on the best bang for my buck upgrades would be great, if they are even possible.
Thanks again guys I am hoping to learn tons from all of you.

everything from the ex does not fit on other models, you have to do some custom work to get it to fit, you will get max 10hp with intake headers and exhaust, if you want some zip you either do nos turbo or engine swap, those are the only things that will give you power
dont listen to him i understand what your lookign for and for a little zip there are plenty of mods you can do thta make your car fun and zippy but he is right when it comes to straight spped are cars suck if you want speed either buy a turbo or sell your car and buy a different one lol but i mena you can put on cold air intakes exhaust headers that will add very litle horsepower but ull feel more of a zip in ur car and it will souind really cool but our cars have alot more cosmetic things thta you can do to them o and as for the hx thing most things like intakes and exhaust will have versions that fit hx because most parts made for ex and lx will have problems for hx (but not all of them) so i hope i enlightened you in a more positive light enjoy your ride and enjoy this site ull learn alot form it i no i have cause when i started out i knew nothing
but now i know more
but now i know more no no im not saying it like u guys are wrong cause ur right im just trying to not decourage him cause hes obviously not gonna buy a turbo cause he asked for best bang for his buck and well i doubt he will get a turbo and well i no u guys are right im just trying to open a different piont of view for him on things he will actually be able to do

Holy ****, this post and the one previous; LEARN GRAMMAR!!!!!!!!!!! You look like a dumb****.
As for the OP's original question, I would just do some simple mods, like drop and wheels. Short of turbo and swap, the car is going to be pretty damn slow.

Although i see intakes on ebay cost less than they charge for shipping but yea dont spend $250 or even close to that on an intake
Ha, I bought my intake for my civic off ebay too. STi has received nothing but quality parts though.

Well the answer to my question/translation of your question is around 150,000, I am not sure if it has been out long enought to know how long the life is.
Wow guys thanks for the quick answers.
K now that you guys tell me to goto ebay an purchase an intake how would I verify that it will fit on my HX, nobody seems to include the HX as one of their models supported. What should I do?
Engine swap hey? What do you think is the cost on that and what kindof motor would fit with this model.
Sorry for all the obvious questions, I am such a noob.

Been trying. Forum searches suck and it seems that I am only loser that wants to do something to his HX.
And searching would probably be easier if I knew of some sufficient content to search for.
But I will continue trying.

your new to this site so take a few days to look around at the site and see if you find answers to your questions, than if you cant find them post them up
Engine swap for an HX?
Do you guys even know the HX engine?
I mean... it has VTEC and lean burn!
If you have an HX is like having a mini-hybrid with two less doors!
I wanted an HX, but they don't bring them here...
