So I walk out to my car this morning to find a bright orange sticker plastered on my rear window. It says, "THIS CAR WILL BE TOWED ON 2/2/2006. REASON: EXPIRED TAGS".
Turns out my apartment did this. But is this even legal? Is this even there job to call the towing company because MY tags are expired? Isnt this the police's job? Sounds like invasion of "something" to me...
So my question is, how much is this "renewing thing cost"? (2002 Civic LX). I didnt even know about it till today. I look back on the license plate and it says OCT 2005.
Goddamn nosy apartment.

Damn man, It's been 4 months and you still haven't renewed your car registration?! I just had to do mine. It was $158.08 for a 03 EX this year and like $175 last year. If you are late they add like $20-30 in GA, I don't know how they do it CA.

WTF?! HUNDRED!?
I was estimated $20-50. So it all depends on the car then?
So what do I need to bring with me to the damn DMV?
This is heinous.... Theyre squeezing every penny out of me........ T-T

In GA it depends on the car and how new it is. Basically, the more it's worth, the more you have to pay.
It does suck. Basically I just gave the tag office $158 for my birthday.
Don't take my word on the price, could be different in CA. I doubt it's that much different, but it could be.

yeah that is BS that your apartment complex would be the one to report it, it's none of their business, I would bitch someone out if that happened to me.
It costs me $60ish a year to renew my registration in NJ for my 05 Coupe.

In Calinfornia you should have recieved a notice to renew your tags about two months before they expired. The letter also has all the info you need to take to the DMV.
They may require you to have: Smog, Proof of Insurance. Most of the times with your license number is more than enough because Smog and Insurance information is their system.

haha, pay your registration on time this year.
i've been pulled over for not having my new sticker on and i don't want to know what kind of fines i would've been hit with if i hadn't been trying to see how long i can go without having to put the sticker on...it was in my glove compartment for 4 months

I live in AZ and they rape you here on your registration tags. I have an 04 EX and it will cost me $227.68 to renew mine for 1yr or I can pay $400.91 to renew for 2yrs. Yeah it sucks, they base it off the value of the car and they have my value at $16,860 and I have to pay mine by 2/15/06. Now that is gay!

yeah man it blows, i'm selling a car amplifier so i can pay for my tags this year. ! hey atleast it goes down in price every year as the value of the car drops. I can't imagine the tags if I owned a car that was over 100k in value, wow!

i just moved into an apartment, and that was one of the terms of hte lease. all cars parked in the parking lot must have up to date tags or they get towed. some kinda liability to the apartments.
