FWD is about only one thing. And that's putting the entire drive train into one neat, compact package. This makes it much simpler to assemble at the plant, and... cheaper.

That's about it.

fwd is better for commuter cars. like all the passenger cars like the accords, camrys, etc. since you steer with your power wheels you have less of a chance of oversteering in a turn, unlike with a rwd car. i think there is also relatively better power transfer from the engine to the front axle since there is pretty much a direct link. power doesnt have to go through a drive shaft to the rear wheels.

it all depends on what you use the car for and how you drive. fwd isnt bad, its just better suited for different things/kinds of driving.

btw, i just saw this (couldnt at work). this isnt top gear. this is 5th gear. they did cancel this show, i think. it wasnt really all that good though. they had some good auto show coverage, but it wasnt anything special. definitely not as entertaining as top gear.

I wish they woulda used better cars for the comparison. Like the top of the line for each type of drivetrain rather then the ones they were using. It woulda been a better comparison I think.

yea, they should have used an STi or somehting w/ a better AWD lineage...

audis quattro is really nothing special when it comes to AWD

but i guess it was more like a comparo of common brit cars that people over there would get
