8th gen civics not as cool as our 7th gens!
Keep your 7th gen civics ya'll....I am keeping my - paid off ! Keep those cool 7th gen civics! Don't fall for the 8th gens - not as cool as ours!
Check out pics from the recent SEMA show....8th gen civics everywhere....they look pretty cool....especially the one painted stealth black...newayz to stay on topic...i agree, i wouldnt trade my 7th gen in for an 8th gen even if i could....heck, i wouldnt trade in my 02 for an 04-05 if i could....but...i would gladly trade in my LX for an EX, lol...
yea the new look is not anything special.. everytime i see a sedan, i see a resemblence to the saturns. however, i remember when i wanted a 6th gen and said the same thing about 7thg gens [that theyre not civics].. maybe it might grow on me, i doubt it though.
i wish they made my car a liftback like the teggys

According to the United States, your car qualifies as a "collector vehicle" and can be licensed as such if it is thirty years old or more. The state will issue a license plate for the rear only, (no front plate required), that has a number and the inscription "collector vehicle." This is a permanent plate that does not expire.
The Honda Civic is the cornerstone of Honda and its automotive heritage, earning recognition and acclaim as an icon in the automotive industry since its introduction in 1973.
Its 2006 do the math, if you have a 1973, 1974, 1975 or a 1976 civic you have a collectible car. Heres some real life collectible civics on display in the UK.

You remind me of a teenager who thinks he knows everything.
Oh and you spelled collectible wrong.
And no i have no life because im a Marine.

What is your problem? new memeber?
Why you come up with all this collectible story copied from the internet and pasted pictures??? There is no point at all.
Th point is: "NOT BEING A COLLECTIBLE year of car, general public would not treat an older year model as cooler or better than newer model, by calling 7th gen better than 8th is just an act of bitterness."
By the way, don't assume you know everything. First of all, I am an automation engineer. Honor EE (electrical engineering) Bac.Eng degree, thank-you. Some elder member in this site already know. Picking on typos on internet does not make you smarter.
About the "idiot" calling, I assume you are one; because it can get you banned in this site.
**PS: During 2001 economic downturn, Canadian army would offer me a engineering officer position if I decided to join them. I know a bit about army discipline. So, I would not disrespect you being a marine, but it is all up to you to show us if you have one.
Again,

I don't want to destroy the thread, but just hope that as 7th gen owner ourself, we don't start attacking anything different from us. It would make us look bitter; a bit like many of those ricer 6th or 5th gen owners.

let's face it, 7thgen civic is PAST it's prime. 8thgen is IN and like the site said before, out with the old, in with the new. people cannot accept the fact that their car is "so last year", there's a new vic in town so get over it. the most common resort for jealousy/bitterness is hatred. stop bashing the 8th gen saying "oh the 8thgen is sooo ugly, my 7th gen is soo much better", "8th gen civics not as cool as our 7th gens!". dollars to donuts, if someone offer you an 8thgen over your 7thgen, i guarantee you will get it right away to upgrade. PLEASE, get over it it's getting too old now.
i don't care i love my car (7th gen) and ain't getting an 8th gen... i ain't even hating on the 8th gens i really don't care... at least it ain't no crappy looking lancer (the regular one) replacing the 7th gen... i say we all need to let up a bit... a honda is a honda no matter how new or how old it is...i mean the only 8th gen i'd get would be that 300hp mugen civic in Japan.

I would say I love my 7th gen but the 8th gen is growing on me. As for what d17a2 said i have to agree minus the idiot part. It is nearly impossible what to say will or will not be a classic in the future. The import craze has been around for about twnety years or so.......so who is to say that those guys when older wont mod what they always liked hell I may be 60 years old with a an ek hatch talkin about the k series crazy and how we made all this hp lol. I highly doubt muscle heads thought the datsun was a cool car but now its a classic I have two and love those as well. If any thing the future of modding and classic cars will be interesting.

Bro, i think you're making assumptions here. First, you're assuming that 7th geners are "jealous/bitter". Second, your comment about how if someone offers us an 8th gen over our 7th, we'te take it rite away... you're assuming once again.
Let me tell you this. I'm planning on purchasing a car soon and i have the money to go buy 8th gen. I've even test driven the new si. Its over rated. Its got the exact same feel as the corolla xrs. Its as if they took away the civic's identity. Its styling is far from the traditional japanese styling.
Finally, i think that its all about opinion.
Anyway, other than the steering wheel, i didn't like the fact that the front end and the back of the car is way too short. The 7ths look more well proportioned IMO. The 8th gens remind me of the tC's. THey don't look good stock. They only look good with big *** body kits on 'em. On the other hand, the 7th gen civics look good with minor modifications. I'd spend 7K and drop a k20a in my car than drive an 8th gen anyday.
