Go HONDA!

I hate when people that own a different manufacturer get all upset when their Ford/Mazda/VW/Pontiac/etc... doesn't win the award.

The Ridgeline strikes me like the first gen Odyssey. Alright, but not serious enough to compete in its catagory. Folks who buy larger trucks want V8's and a full frame built for hauling, even if they never take advantage of either of 'em. Yes, the tailgate is a first for a truck, but it's no innovation, as GM wagons had 'em since the 60's. Also, if folks wanted ride quality, they wouldn't be looking at a truck in the first place. A minivan can haul longer cargo than these trucks can, yet seat more people when needed too.

The truth is that awards are just awards, but the sales numbers is really what indicates what's good and what isn't. Like the Odyssey, Honda will sell some because ... well, it's a Honda. In a couple years, they'll realize their faults, go back to the drawing board, and come out with something more serious and substantial.

-- Kane ... my take on it anyways.

^ I totally agree.

What we see is a new and fresh look which is what Honda is known for doing. They try to incorporate the things already established into the market with a more realistic view of what products should do, be like, or qualities that vehicles should have. They make the most of what they have and do their best with what they know how to do.

I was surprised to see that the ridgeline won since from what I heard it wasn't selling well. I mean tough to sell a truck that cost so much more than its competitors in the midst of a spike in gas prices. but hey I think that composet bed with the storage area is one of the best ideas out there since it improves the utility for the average driver and not the serious truck driver.

my kudos to honda.

i am a honda luver but guys, honda ridgeline shouldn't even compare to a ford f150 or even tundra or nissan titan, it's just not the same class, titan IMO is the logical choice because it's as powerfull as f150 just as durable and best of all it's japanese

Negative on the durability. Brakes are extremely poor, and IMHO, the interior trim and build quality is worse than even GM. And have you ever felt the door handles? Those hollow pieces of chrome plastic does not construe any sort of durability, especially when Nissan is on the name plate.

IIRC, poor payload capacity too ... somthing like 1200 lbs.

No, the F-series is still the winner in my book. Our last work truck rolled the odometer 7 times before we put it out to pasture ... and the only reason why was because the shop guys just kept driving it, and didn't check up on its maintenance.

-- Kane ... 11k since the previous oil change, and nearly 3 quarts low takes its toll on moving parts, especially since it wasn't the first time!!!

I would never buy a Honda truck. End of story.

Good for the Civic though.
