im with grey on legalizing drugs

look at what the drug war is doing..
1) creating drug cartels, drug gangs, etc
2) creating violence
3) putting lots of people in jail and overcrowding the jails.
4) raising taxes to pay for it

look at what the drug war is not doing
1) stopping people from using drugs
2) making the world a safer place (its actually doing exactly the opposite)

did the idiots in washington not learn one god damn thing from prohibition???? it doesnt f*cking work. how many more people have to die because of the drug war and all the violence drugs being illegal creates before they get it through their thick skulls that they are making things worse, not better.

things that would be better if drugs were legal:
1) there would be no drug dealers, drug cartels, etc. this means LESS VIOLENCE
2) jails wouldnt be overcrowded
3) they could control the drugs so there wouldnt be bad additives, fake drugs, etc
4) they could make money off them so taxes could be lowered, or the money could be used to help addicts recover
5) there would be help available much more easily to people who needed it since they would have to go to government run places to get their drugs, and there would be easy access to help there
6) there would be less overdoses if drugs were taken in a more controlled enviroment or at least had quantities and strengths controlled

theres probably more so feel free to add to this

I agree with Diznavis...
not that I would do them but I should be able to choose how I can harm myself.

Don't forget all the civil liberties that we have lost solely from the war on drugs. The government can now search and seize without a search warrant in many drug related charges. Fourth amendment anyone?

Grey has a spectacular aura aboutGrey has a spectacular aura about
Word!

We spend 10 billion on drug enforcement each year. Think of what 10 billion could do if it wasn't being spent on drug enforcement. Whoa! Then there are all those countries that make drugs, they're making money off of us. We should make them instead and then the drug lords in other countries would do down as well. For example, many terrorists make drugs and sell them to make money to fund their devious deeds.

I also think that there shouldn't be any commercials of recreational drugs though. That would give the recreational drug industry too much selling power. I think that a certain percentage of the money they make should go to having commercial campaigns like the Truth campain that's against cigarettes. It would just inform people of the consequences and such...

I think Marijuana will be legalized in CA first. Then it'll slowly creep in to other states. Especially if the state tax goes down since they'll be taxing the recreational drugs. Then other recreational drugs will follow.

It'll balance itself out too, I'm not afraid that everyone will be a user. Not everyone smokes. Not everyone drinks. Same thing, although certain drugs will be more taxing on your health.
