Decoding the VIN Number
Does anybody know if there is a VIN Decoder online for or Civics?
Or, better yet, do you know how to decode our VINs? The only thing I know about mine is that the "1" at the beginning of it represents a car built in the USA.
Any info, comments, suggestions, etc...always appreciated

1st 3: JHM Honda Motor Co., Ltd Honda Passenger Vehicle
1HG Honda of America MFG., Inc., USA Honda Passenger Vehicle
2HG Honda of Canada MFG., HOnda Canada Inc., Honda Passenger Vehicle
Next 3: ES1 Civic/D17A1
ES2 Civic/D17A2
7th #: 5: 4 door/Manual
6: 4 door/Auto

9th #: Check Digit
10th #: 1:2001
Last Set is your serial number
Obviously the 7th number will be off for the coupe.

Rep Power: 0 I actually have the coupe, and this came from the service manual not the owners manual. The codes are different.
1st 3 are the same,
next 3 are different: EM1 for 17DA1; EM2 for 17DA2
next number also different: 1 for coupe M/T don't know coupe A/T, guessing 2
Next number different: Ex is 9, not sure about rest of lines
Numbers there after are the same.
