haha most def. since my civic was a auto but i mean will it be a car that will be even remotely quick as in like... keeping up with or possibly beating a 04 BMW 330Ci w/ SMG option w/ intake and underdrive pulleys to be exact.. lol
Do they make a Auto WRX?
If they do Id say they can be fast.
Restall the torque converter and put in a shift kit and your good to go as long as the tranny can hold the abuse. Then modd it like any other wrx.
A auto will also be more consistent than a 5/6 speed.

Yeah, they do make an auto, I test drove one about 3 years ago. It was still pretty quick, maybe not AS quick as a 5 speed, but that also depends on your shifting ability. Still pretty peppy though, Id go for it

The auto tranny is around $1,500 upgrade and well we all know isnt as fun. I dunno how much the auto tranny could take but on the regular WRX's once you hit around 350 whp the tranny starts to really suffer.

^^^ yea, the regular WRXs 5 speeds arent really duable. many of the people that mod them are having troubles with them. my friend just replaced his 5-speed with a JDM 6-speed after it went out on him.
Why'd you want a car that beats an 04 BMW 330Ci w/ SMG option w/ intake and underdrive pulleys???
Why not go for a car that's beautiful to your eyes and drives smooth (and add the fast) while not trying to race it? You already got into a wreck... why go at it again? (Experience talking)

I drove an auto WRX and I drive a 5 speed WRX. Of course the WRX can win against a 330ci.... with a decent amount of $$ spent on it. A stock auto EJ20 turbo kind of sucks in the low RPM's. Once boost builds up, it will be great, and then fall flat around 5500 RPM. I have never experienced the new EJ25 turbo WRX, that larger displacement should cure some of the low RPM problems. I say with a simple stage 2 set up, you should be able to keep up or win.

well, test drove the 05 WRX auto in aspin white and all i can say is wow... had 3 pplz in the car too and it still pulled. i only hit 3.5k rpm on the car but WOW, u can hear the turbo spool and you can hear the stock BOV perfectly. it was amazing. i went around 15mph corners going 40 with 3 people without any slip at all. its such a joy to drive in that car. i fell in love. i never thought i would leave the honda family. if i do get enough money for this, im getting it for sure!

2005 was the last year that produced 4 speed automatic trannys for the Impreza WRX Sedan. i did drive it unless what i thought was a turbo spooling and a BOV was just the guy next to me making noises...

3500 RPM? not bad.... but M3 still faster. What makes it feel fast is that ultra long delay of boost.... stock is like, floor it, wait wait BAM! Just throwing up #'s, but I would say an auto WRX would put down no more than 170 WHP (probably overestimating). but I'm glad you like it and I really do hope you get 1.
WRX is most likely gonna be my next car, but with a 5spd. Its already as fast as I would ever want to go, as long as its quicker than my civic. Ill probably leave everythign stock except for some nice wheels and a mild exhaust.

WRX will most likely be my next car as well....well when i can afford to trade in that is. but 3 of my friends have WRX's, 2 MT's and 1 AT. 1 MT is bone stock while the AT has upgraded up/down pipe, boost controller, exhaust, upgraded hoses and some other things. when they had a race he blew away the MT rex and i think with the up/down pipes changed out he said he gets boost a lot sooner.
Definitely comes in auto, at least in 04. And it's much faster than a Civic--which shouldn't come as a surprise =)
I've floored one, they're really quick when you hit 3500RPM or so. The only downside is the turbo lag, and that anywhere below 3k RPM there's very little torque.
If you want good acceleration and torque, go for the new Mustang. Has pretty good handling, but a V6 with great torque even at low RPMs. Since you have less control over RPMS with an auto, a low-torquey car is better. Even the V6 Mustang is pretty quick too.

^^^ it's only about 3-4k more than the WRX and comes with a 6 speed auto instead of a 4 speed auto.

I just checked mine (online insurance is so nice
) but there is only a $6 per month difference between the 2 cars for me. But that's just me, different person with differenct insurance company means different rates. Best to check with your insurance though. Thread
