I think it was funny that Ford actually sold wrong-hand drive explorers there in the first place!Anyway, space is a premium in Japan so people that can afford an Explorer/spot to put it will definetely want one that is a little more proper! I hope that they're successful becuase Ford's best selling vehicle isn't doing as well as they hoped over here.

i think its stupid.
but it might work. but wouldnt that make driver just a bit more difficult..? especially driving in cluttered streets of japan? i dont know..like making a left turn for example..you have decreased visibility..
theres no function of having a LHD in japan.

It isn't as hard as RHD and turns aren't a big problem.
PRO
Japan has narrow streets. When you park you don't have to watch for traffic when you get out since you are on the curb side.
CON
Toll gates suck because you are on the wrong side of the booth.
I sure wish my car was newer

Ford is genius.
Why do people want RHD cars in the states? It's not because they make life easier or any practical reason. People want what they don't have. Ford is feeding into a natural human desire to be special. A LHD Explorer in Japan will be an awesome seller - you guys know there's a market for USDM parts over there, right?
If Honda said they'd be selling RHD Civics in the states, you'd all have smiles ear to ear.

they're probably doing it also because it saves money. it would basically be the US version so they wouldn't have to redesign a bunch of stuff in the interior. one version as opposed to two. makes more money

If you've ever driven in Japan, you'd know why a US SUV would bomb. Even with small cars, getting around corners in tiny streets is really, really hard. Not to mention that you have to close the mirrors in some streets cus they're so narrow.
The Chrysler 300 w/ LHD on the other hand, would sell like hotcakes there.

I think you guys are missing the point, they're selling the LHD Exploders because it's a status symbol, not for making life easier... If you can afford it, you aren't worried about the taxes or the gas it consumes or anything like that.
