Has anyone ever seen a Civic GX?
I was looking through the Honda website today and came across the Civic GX. I already knew it existed but looking at it on the webpage made me realize that I've never seen one on the road. I can't imagine that they sell too well. Has anyone ever seen one?

I think you get some tax savings for owning a GX. The Honda website has a bunch of info on that. Maybe Uncle Sam will be extra kind to you because your Civic is listed as a GX (even though it really isn't one).
Up til now I thought that HX's were the rarest Civics. Now I know that GX's are even more scarce!

I have seen some HX's but never a GX. They are really hard to get and I think you have to special order one if you want one. I don't think the dealers push them and most people probably don't even know they exist.

<< wassup with GX I thought EX is the top of the line Trim model >>
EX is the "top of the line" trim level for the Civic.
GX is a Civic sedan that uses compressed natural gas (CNG) instead of gasoline. It's got a 100hp engine and its MSRP is around $20,000. It has SULEV emission level, compared with the ULEV level that the rest of the Civic line has. I don't know if the GX has a 5-spd version but I know that the automatic version has a continuously variable transmission (CVT) like the HX does. The only other thing that I know about the GX is that lots of states offer special rebates or tax incentives for the purchase of a SULEV vehicle. In California and a couple other states you can ride in the carpool or HOV lane without carpooling as long as your vehicle is SULEV. Did I miss anything? Let me know if anyone spots one of these. Me thinks you're more likely to see a DeLorean than a GX. I saw a DeLorean a few months ago. Man those are cool....
When I was working at a car wash in the summer I saw a GX! It was white... if anyone cares It seemed quieter to me, but it was hard to tell with all the noise from the wash. I thoughit was cool, but none of my dumb @ss corsisca driving coworkers thought so
Is there any website that you could download that info for the ability to go in the carpool lane with a SULEV vehicle.... I wonder if you could get away with it by adding the SULEV sticker to any civic??? Be risky though.

If you get in an accident or have a theft on you vehicle, they can actually deny your claim if your car is insured incorrectly. (It happened to my friend once) State Farm dic*ed him after his accident.

What's up with CNG? Where the hell would you fill your tank?? Just wondering...haven't seen too many Compressed Natural Gas Stations in southern Indiana.
i saw one driving in the car pool lane infront of me one day. real quiet when he reved his engine to pass somebody. i think you get a kit and fill the tank at your home. it just seems weird to me. i was thinking of paying the fee and stuff to ride in the carpool lane in my car, but you have to put these stickers on your car, they're fairly large and look like an old thermometer sideways. not sure if they're clear or just white with black writing, only seen them on white cars.

That's gonna be cool! Whoa
. I live in So Cal and the traffic here is damn heavy the only way is the carpool lane. When I cruise there and some cops see me that Im alone traveling on a carpool lane. They gonna pull me over before they open their mouth to ask for my liscense and registration I just point to them that I have a SULEV sticker on my window that's gonna shut them up. Thread Starter

One advantage to CNG: it's cheaper than gasoline. The "gas mileage" might not be as good on the GX but if you're only paying $0.65/gge (gasoline gallon equivalent, I think it is) compared to $1.15/gallon then maybe you end up saving a good chunk of change in the long run. I'd have to do some calculations to check....
Congrats to those who have spotted a GX! Can anyone think of any car that's harder to spot??

just went out and checked my new insurance card and its right. got a new company and im saving $800 per year, it was over 2500 with old guard (even though they quoted it under 2000.. f*cking liars), but with unitrin direct, its 1785 or something like that per year, and they have enough brain power to tell a civic ex and a gx apart

put a GX emblem on your car with it and you might be more likely to get away with it

how was it listed wrong? did he tell them he had a different car than what he really had, or did some dumbass make a typo and screw him (if that happened he should have called a lawyer)

I'm sure you'd have to register your car with the state's transportation department. I believe they issue you a sticker for your windshield that will let you travel in the carpool lane. The cops won't give a crap if you have GX or SULEV emblems or stickers on your car, but if you have one of those state-issued stickers than you should be all set.
