Brainwashing a ricer: The truth exposed!
Brainwashing a ricer: The truth exposed!
First off, it is a kid between the ages of 16 and 22.
Probably working a low wage job.
Has poor budgeting skills.
Still lives at home.
Has a need to be noticed.
Thinks dressing like Eminem is "cool"
Shifts an automatic Honda Civic like its a manual.
Emo haircuts and wearing baseball caps backwards are a plus.
Ricers say V8s get shitty gas mileage. Then why do Z06's get 19/28 mpg city/hwy? Have you ever seen the 427 Lingenfelter Twin turbo Corvette?? It gets 18/26 mpg, city/hwy. That has a relatively mild tune as well! Even if the Lingenfelter setup has 900 hp, that is better than some V6 Camrys and a stock Twin turbo Poopra!
Any car will get shitty gas mileage if you have your foot on the gas every time you drive!!
They still think a modded Honda is reliable, even when their high performance parts still break every time they race or "get on it". Nevertheless, a turbo, supercharger or a simple NOS is every ricer's dream.
No matter what, a Chevy or Ford or Mopar can never see 100,000 miles on the stock block because its an "American" car.
You have seen nothing yet! Talk to the guys who put 200,000 miles on a Chevy and have never taken the heads off. I'm assuming they still enjoy "getting on it" everyday. Its all about the basic maintenance procedures that most idiots neglect!! At least learn about the car you want and go buy it!!
People would rather see a Chevelle retrofitted with pump gas friendly, economical fuel injection system and modern suspension, rather than a stupid high hp, turbo early 90s Honda Civic who burns his tires everyday at the local Wal-Mart.
At least, make it worth your time to cut and weld the frame of your 7th gen, custom fit an LS-1 and convert your Civic to RWD. People might respect you more! I'm afraid the Honda purists might kill you afterwards and your wallet might be much lighter!
N00b ricers think that a $400 custom bent 2.5" exhaust and a Folgers coffee can at the end yields 30 hp.
A $300 carbon fiber cold air intake automatically yields another 30 hp
A $300 4-2-1 header is worth 40 hp
Do I have a 217 hp D17A 7th gen Honda Civic now? NO!!!
It is probably slower...
If it is loud, it is fast!!
Thinks a big aluminum wing, even on FWD cars can help improve looks, get more downforce, and therefore GREATLY improve performance and handling characteristics.
Lowering your car improves handling at the expense of bad camber and bottoming out on speed bumps.
Body kits DO attract the 17 year old stupid blonde hotties! They'd **** you without a condom and have your baby. Good luck with the child support payments, pal!
Some bigger idiots put all kinds of performance brand stickers on their car not actually even having them. The probably think their car will look faster by intimidating the opponent while revving up the 4 cylinder. (yeah right!!)
They love to gut their cars' interior at the expense of comfort and claim they automatically have 10 more hp and 1 second off their pathetic 0-60 mph time.
"My car used to go 0-60 in 10 seconds!" Wow, big ****in' deal! 0-60 mph in 9 seconds now?? Its still a dog!!
"Smarter" but stupid ricer kids might show people their water pump or A/C compressor is actually their "blower" or "supercharger"
Fake BOVs, purging systems, colored hoses and dummy NOS bottles, aka subs might get you more attention from the people laughing at you!
I.C.E or In Car Entertainment is only a way to "vent" or "make up" for having a slow p.o.s Civic that will be worth as much as the empty "antique" aluminum beer cans on a redneck's front porch. I'll give you $20 to help you recycle.
Kids with "faster" rice cars think a stock Civic Si or Integra GS-R shifting at 8000 rpms can beat an automatic LT-1/LS-1 Camaro because most V8s redline at 5500 rpms yet shift below that most of the time.
Spoiled young ricers with high end Hondas like an NSX, S2000, or top Euro trash like a BMW M3 or Benz E55 AMG will eventually wreck their car because of the fact they can't handle the power. If they don't wreck it sooner or later, I wouldn't like see their driver's record or have them in my insurance policy, and/or be their insurer!
Ricer's can't "lose." If they lose, they will say either of the 3, "you have a V8" or say "I got half your motor!" or say, "my clutch is slipping!" Excuses excuses, excuses!!
If you let them "win" by denying to race or simply not racing, they'll still race you and say they beat a V8 and brag about that to everyone of their friends.
Heavy 7000 lb "suped up" turbo diesel trucks are slow no matter what because they redline at 3600 rpms. Ever hear about "torque", buddy??? They'll put a hurtin' on your little rice rocket by beating it at the drag strip, and later catch up to the same flyby ricer and run them over on the highway.
You can say you have a street/strip, turbo 4 cylinder econo jap car with a peak of 500 hp. Have you heard about blown V8s with 2000+ hp daily driven on the street?? Big difference there!! They've only been doing it for more than 20 years now.
Your bone stock, unmodified car makes its peak power at 6500 rpms and you'd buy a Mugen chip from Ebay that will change the rev limiter to 9000 rpms and add more spark advance. You shift at that speed while racing an automatic LT-1/LS-1 Camaro. Who will win and what is the outcome of the race?? I think the answer is obvious!
I'd like to put $8,000 on a TPI F-Body and the other dude wants to put $8,000 on a 2001+ Honda Civic. It has to be a street car, no forced induction!!
Possible mods for the 2001+ Civic:
2.0L 220 hp K20A ITR motor from Japan, direct drop in
Car costs $13,000
Cost of mods and labor: $8,000
Drag race outcome: Still stuck in the low 15's or high 14's...bleh...
Economical outcome: 20/30 mpg city/hwy
Comment on engine noise: I'm tired of hearing that god damn weed wacker!!
Possible mods for the TPI F-Body:
Custom built 420 cubic inch/500+ hp SBC (7.0L)
Lingenfelter 219/219 cam, .560/.560 lift /w 1.6 RR
AFR 190 aluminum heads, 2.02 in/1.6 ex
MiniRam intake, 1300 CFM monoblade TB
1 7/8" LT headers
Adapt stock TPI fuel injection, conservative street tune on EPROM:
Car costs $3,000
Cost of mods: $8,000
Drag race outcome: Mid to high 11's
Economical outcome: 18/27 mpg (Thank the tall 2.73 gears!!)
Comment on engine noise: God, I love that sound!!
Winner for all causes = TPI F-body
Here's a website to brainwash you stupid kids still interested in "suping up" your slow, fattest Civic evAr!!:

Admit it, FWD cars will always suck at launches no matter what!! Seems like a small block Chevy will ALWAYS have much more aftermarket support than a stupid mid 90's Honda with $30,000 in it, just to run 10's and for the replacement of parts that break.
If you can't win, you'll say your car "handles" better on the corners or say "I got a WRX STI, Shitsubishi EVO, or a Toyota Poopra that can beat you." Why didn't you get those cars then????? Oh, I know you are using an infamous defense mechanism referred to in Pyschology called Compensation. Would you like the definition as well??
It is also easier obtain parts and to find a tuner for a custom EFI OBD-1 SBC than it is to find one for a stupid OBD-2 Civic. Won't you ricers just die already???
Only idiot, hardcore ricers would spend money on a 2001+ Civic when I can get a low mile C5 Corvette in your local for the same price with no extra effort to make it run 13s at the 1/4 mile drag strip. Cost effective?? You decide!!
Cliffnotes: Worst for worst, I'd rather work on an fuel injected 3rd gen F-Body than a stupid 7thgen Civic. I won't even think about deciding on the Civic for a performance project. F-Body all the way!

wow,
Ive seen K20A2's that are not even 220 hp with I/H/E run 13.8. Its proven. Not that that is super fast or anyhting, but your low 15 to high 14 estimate is way off.
Could i assume the K20A 220hp ITR is even faster with I/H/E mods? Even more faster with comparable internal work and tune?
To each their own i guess.
Are Highly modded 928374 HP F-body's anymore reliable? Are you implying that High performance parts for American cars don't break?
This is a totally biased statement. There are just as many retarted kids with Corvettes and Cameros doing donuts and burnouts in random parking lots trying to impress catholic school grades 6-12.
Kids with 500hp F-body's will wreck their car too and or get speeding tickets . There are just as many retarted people driving high output American cars as high end imports.

Sad, really. So many asumptions, as if any one who owns an import and likes to tweak their car is automatically a "ricer". As if every one who owns a civic is automatically a street racer. Sad.... Sounds like some one woke up handcuffed to the wrong side of the bed.

some guys I used to work with think import = rice, even if its a bone stock import.. and thats ok they're entitled to their own opinion, I'd love to have a performance car for weekends n stuff, but i'd still keep my civic for daily driving or an import in general. just due to the track record of 250k+ out of most hondas, nissans, toyotas. my cousin had a ford ranger that he sold @ 250k was in mint condition too, he kept it immaculate. Im aware that domestics can last, and they sound better than tiny engines, of course. both sides have pros and cons, and there are just as many "stupid redneck hicks" as "stupid idiot ricers" ... whats your point? Imports are just trendy now, what was trendy before imports?

why are you comparing an econo civic to high end domestics? Z06 vs. Civic? yeah, cause everyone knows that the Z06's market = the Civic's market.
