Need Help

I'm new to the whole civic modification scene but I just got an 04 Civic 2dr LX and want to start modifying it. I already droppped it and put 18" Racing Hart rims on it and ordered a Tanabe catback eaxhaust for LX. and an AEM V2 cold air intake. What else can I do to it to increase HP? anyone reccomend headers for the car? Can I get a turbo or should I get a turbo? I haven't seen any kits that are compatible.. NMy buddy just reccomended getting the engine port and polished and get new cams... Any insight would be appreciated.

Well headers are a good idea. The three most basic performance mods are intake, exhaust and headers. You have to decide wether or not you want a race header or a shorty header. The difference being that the race header is illegal in most states because it replaces the catalytic converter. The shorty header will not replace the catalytic converter, but it isn't quite the hp gain that the race header is. You could also buy an intake manifold, and do what your buddy said: new cams. If you go to p-tuning.com you can get a number of bolt on parts that will increase hp

But if I were you

I'd learn quite a bit more about cars before I started modifying it. It's not like putting together a k'nex set. Alot of times **** will not fit or you will have get creative about how to get parts on your car. For example:

I was installing an intake on my RSX, however the directions failed to mention that I would have to shave about 4x6 square of plastic from my fenderwell. This made things interesting when trying to get my bumper reattached.

I highly recommend NOT trying to go turbo when you just got your car. I get the vibe your young and want a car with a ****-ton of power, but i'd wait cause you gotta learn to drive first.

yes, for the lx, the cat is on the header, which is why an "lx" exhaust from tanabe costs an extra 70 bucks i believe. it's basically an extra length of pipe to reach the cat. i suspect if you get headers, that the extra piping will become useless and you'll have wasted the money. not 100% sure though, just a guess. i have an lx, and had custom piping done for my exhaust.

Dude, that doesn't make sense. 18" wheels are so heavy they will slow down your car.

The most you will increase with add ons is like 3-5 hp. But you negate any gains with the big wheels so you're back to zero

I see what you mean. I did see a *fitment note* on ptuning.com about the exhaust. I guess I'll get headers then but I want a legal header, how can I get a cat and performance headers at the same time.
