I was wondering the same thing at first but then I realized that the rim is so deep that when you see it from the side, all you see is the inner chromed wall. The 5 star pattern is even deeper in.

If u look at the other pictures....what u see in the 3rd pic is just the lip of the rim. Not really sure why it looks like that in that pic though, but I thought the same thing when I saw ur post lol
