Arghh! End of My Car.....Pregnancy!
Hey,
Ok, this is old news (about 2 weeks) but hasn't really settled in until the last couple of days.
My soon to be wife and I just found out we are having a baby. Yah Yah, excited, shocked, unexpected, a blessing, blah blah blah. All of that was going threw my mind until this morning at work.
I have a 2dr Honda Civic 2k1 EX coupe. Which can be seen here,
Member's Ride
Now my ride was intended for me and my g/f or another 1 person. Not for a third person.
Basically, with this, I can literally delete all of the things listed in the Future Mods section.
Also, I am also debating wether I should trade my car in for a 4 door or maybe and SUV. Which is probaly my best alternative. The Civic Coupe IMO will cause to many problems with a baby especailly for the 1st couple of years.
So, I am going to try to talk to the wifey in joining and getting possibly a Lexus IS 300, Subaru 4 door Impreza WRX or BMX X5. Any other family, but yet sporty cars that you can suggest under $30,000 would be greatly appreciated.
A thought just entered, I don't have to trade in my car - I can give it to my younger bro (who is 16) once he gets his license (maybe a year from now) and have my mom buy it from me. Basically my down payment, and all the mods I put into the car with some extra because she is my mom.
I can use that money to put into a down of the new car. So maybe I can get in the $35,000 range. Any other suggestions of cars? I am looking to pay around $500.00 a month possibly for 5 years. No Leasing.
Thoughts?
Babies are cool, only once they arrive.

Well you could go for the sport wagons out there, the Toyota Matrix or Mazda Protege 5. they are supposed to be sporty and they are getting alot of aftermarket response. If you want to stick to imports and want something sporty, I would suggest the WRX. It might be hard on your insurance tho because it has a stock turbo. There is also the Nissan Se-r or Altima. Good luck and congradulations!!!

congrats on the baby, dude
firstly, the Beemer X5 is not even close to $35,000 try ~$50,000 if memory serves...
just as a note, you might not want to get the Sentra SE-R...i saw a review of it on MotorWeek last week and during the slolom, that SOB's outside rear wheel was inches off the ground! no lie, i saw it happen--not very safe (esp for a family) if you ask me
but the Altima is pretty damn sweet, and fast as hell too!
anyway, goodluck and i hope you are able to get something cool to replace your Civic

Congratulations SugarRay!
1) You have a baby on the way.
2) You have a nice looking Civic.
I think you would get by just fine on your Civic for a couple of years. I did it with my Mustang LX 5.0.
I ended up purchasing a Civic EX Sedan for myself. We already have a Honda Odyssey which my wife
drives. I wanted something a little more civilized than my 11 year old 5.0. The Civic has worked out
great.
Why don't you consider a Civic sedan?
Anyway, you could look into the Acura TL ( a little too close to $30,000 ) or a Nissan Altima.
You could get a nice 4 cyl Altima for less than $20,000, I'm certain, and with 180hp, you have nothing
to be ashamed of.
Take your savings and start a college fund. Don't rip your mother off by charging her for your modifications!
Good luck!

Dude, I know what you mean. My wife is pregnant and due in Sep. So basically, my car budget has transformed itself into our baby budget. If I get enough money back from my tax returns, that will allow me to slap a damn bodykit on my car as my last mod...
But don't get me wrong, I am so pumped about being a dad. I just have so many things running through my head about what I want to do with my child. It's cool too because your parents want to start buying you everything and saying things like, "Oh, we'll pay for it. You have to save up for the baby."
I have a coupe too. And my wife and I are seriously debating on whether to get a sedan or something a little more convenient for the baby. I got a few cars on my list such as: Toyota Matrix (even though it is the same thing as a Pontiac Vibe), Lexus IS300, Honda Odyssey (they have some cool kits for those, plus it's got VTEC:tup, Subaru WRX, BMW 330. I'll have to see if my parents want to buy my Civic from me to give it to my sister who's going to start college in the fall.
Good luck man. And don't get too upset when your g/f has major mood swings and stuff. You just have to realize that she can't help it.

Since it won't be til another 9 months or so til you have the baby, the R34 should be at our shores by then.
