I got 15.85 in my stock EX. Of course it was on the original wheels. Now I get greater top speed but my best time in my 17s is 16.45

Hope this helps.

A buddy of mine told me this fact: Each pound on your tire or rim as to say equals 50 pounds car weight. So if your stock rim weights 10pounds and your nice chrome ones weight 16 your pushing 300 pounds extra per rim. Meaning that equals 1200 car weight added. Think about it...

Best time I've done (1/8th mile is all we have close to home here) is a 10.57 1/8.......I'm pretty sure I could push that down to a 10.47 (shave a tenth of a second) if I took out my speaker box, spare tire, and if I could get some frickin traction!! Running a bone stock LX on factory steel wheels....I ran the 10.57 this weekend, but I was spinning all the way through first gear. Even feathering the clutch and gas, launching at diff rpms, just couldn't get any grip at the track. Will run again this weekend, and we'll see how low can ya go...

BTW, adding some 17" wheels in a couple weeks, but will use hubby's on the track....Once my wheels are in, I'll put Mickey Thompson drag radials on the 14"s and see how much better it is.

OMG, thats the most retarded thing evAr! Please kick your "friend" in the nuts for me.

UNSPRUNG WEIGHT, that is the weight not being suspended on the suspension (such as the brakes, rims, tires and what not) is = to 1.5 times the weight from anywhere else on the car. so if you say, have a 30Lb stock wheel/tire combo, then move to a 20 Lb combo, it would be figured as such...

30 - 20 = 10

10 x 4 = 40

40 x 1.5 = 60

where'd you get that formula from? that doesn't at all account for wheel diameter/sidewall size/tire weight

what crack are you on? the wheel/tire weight is the wheel tire weight. ot doesnt matter if its 1 20" rim and 30 series tire that weight 30 Lbs or a 14" rim with 70 series tire that weighs 30Lbs. they both weigh 30 lbs. Im assuming your confused and you are refering to the Hp loss you get when moving from a smaller diameter rim to a larger one. This is not the case. And If your not refering to that by mistake.. then indeed you are smoking crack and are lacking some common sense as well as math skills.

in all honesty though? an d EX *should* be 8-8.5 to 60 and 16.2-16.7 in the quarter....
I know previous gen EX's with an AEM and exhaust would typically run 15.9-16.0, and a little quicker with a header....when I was done with my EX (AEM, full exhaust, Kamikaze header, BBK 62mm T-body) it was as quick as a *stock* Si up untill the top of 3rd (probobly 15.7 or so with all those mods).....so my guess is that an EX with all those mods will stay with an Si till highway speeds....then it's buh-bye Ex

anyway..yeah...i dont know about the Lx, but that's what i'd guess the EX should be running stock...
where as an Si is about 7.4 to 60 ( I still dont buy the motor trend figure of 7.1 to 60) and the Neon DOHC is 7.4 as well....although, stock the Si is 15.7 and 15.9 for the Neon...stock...but..that's just me being a :

Hey I was going off his word. He runs 14s in his Civic. So I take it he knows his sh*t. So don't bust my a$$. Maybe I got a few things mixed up when he told me. And he told me while he was doing some mods to my car, so I was a puffing a cigarette trying to watch my beauty. Don't quote me on that one.

You try and listen to someone while your car is being worked on, sometimes words get tangled and confused. From all I gathered though the lighter the wheel the better.

Randy

And to the person who called me an "(not directed towards JoeB16, rather the other oompa-loompa with the retarted 1200car weight calculation)" go set your Dodge Neon ablaze why don't ya.

Well yea 15.85 after I took out half the sh*t in my car, and did some adjusting under the hood. Now that I have a few performance parts and some other engine work done I'm sure I can run in the 14s. But I don't like racing anymore after I saw 2 street racers nearby race and 1 car got struck by an 18wheeler.

18 wheelers on the drag strip?!

hmm..
what kind of "adjusting" do you do to a stock civic?
hmmm
you cant adjust timing..hmmm....what did you "adjust " to run a 15.8?
and what performance parts do you have in order to run a 14?
huh?

Wow dude your reading skills suck. Street Racers = what? Let me answer it for ya. They were racing on the street. Don't be an idiot, and why must you start sh*t.

Maybe you oughta visit the dragstrip a little more often and figure out how to adjust your car to get a better time. Wait if I were you I'd work on trying to get a Perfect Reaction time for taking off. I heard your always getting the red light cause your too quick.

And as far as what mods I've done:
Port and Polish, and I ain't talking the one your granddad does with his sandpaper.
Bored, and Honed

Spent over $2000 in getting the engine setup. And I got the usual being Exhaust, Air Intake, Headers, and all the stickers I could find!

Don't bother replying I don't feel like being involved in a flame war.

haha..your such a dork...
bored? how much?
why would you even mention honing? cylinders are ALWAYS honed..
*duh*
port and polish with sandpaper? okay..so you used a carbide bit to port your head?
are the intake and header*S* portmatched?

please...tell me, the inexperienced racer, what *adjustments you made that got you to a 15.8?
you took out some seats...what, fiddled with tirepressure on stock radials?

um..what..you cant adjust timing...so..perhaps you iced down your intake...hmmm...took off the exhaust?
hmmmm
i'm still not sure all that would yeild a 15.8
