rsx on the fence
with the initial rumors of the rsx being dead for the civic si, then acura saying its planning a redesign next year or whatever and the RDX coming with a 200+ hp turbo charged 4 cylinder with sh-awd, anyone thinking that there may be a possibility of a type-s with a turbo k20 series and sh-awd??
Id drop the SI immediatly if that was in the works

A turbo engine? Got a link to that?
Turbo ? Really ? I dunno about that. Just becuase realistically i don't see why Honda would release a vehicle with forced induction..if anything a motor like a k24 or similar becuase the RDX is a mid sized smaller SUV.
Look out for the 2007 MDX as well, its having a HUGE makeover..
But if it just so happens to be turboed..haha..remember the CITY Turbo...what a car...

Here it is people:
http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=408025
Model Year 2007 is going to be big for Acura as they will be launching two new SUVS. The MDX, Acura's popular mid-size SUV will benefit from a full model change while the RDX -the first addition to the Acura line since the TSX - will join the Acura lineup and slot in underneath the MDX in terms of size and price.
Details remain scarce for both models, though Acura showed the RDX Concept at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show and provided a solid hint regarding the styling and packaging of the vehicle as well as a few key clues surrounding the drivetrain. In case you forgot, Acura promised SH-AWD, "more than 200hp", and an incredible in-car entertainment system. Since then, the rumor mill has been buzzing about a new turbo 4-cylinder motor that's supposedly been under development for the RDX, but that's been sort of back and forth as to whether it will make it to production. The latest info we've heard is that the turbo motor is a go. Expect the RDX to go on sale early in 2006. Brenda Priddy managed to snag some photos of the RDX, shown here in heavy camouflage (the test engineers are actually driving around with a car cover ON the car). If you look closely at the interior you can see that the instrument cluster bears a resemblance to the one shown on the Detroit Concept. You can also see that the back glass is shaped nearly identical to the concept as well. It may be difficult to see in the shot we've included here, but the vehicle appears to have power seat controls and dual exhausts. In other shots we have seen, there are turn signals on the mirrors.

I was just asking if you could name one car that honda has made with a turbo. I could name plenty of honda's that have navigation systems.

Getting nav was the surprise. I figure if it did it would be voice activated, why would they make a system for the Accord and all the other models that is voice activated, then make a seperate system for just the civic, that just wouldn't make sence...

This is interesting. But the puzzeling thing is, why would Honda build a turbo engine that puts out around 200hp when they ALREADY make a 200hp N/A version. Surely the K20 could be tuned to bump up the power a little more if needed. FI is one thing I won't believe untill I see it. Having a concept FI and putting into production are two totally different things. Also throughout article I see nothing that says offically from Honda that they where considering a turbo, just speculation. I can't count the number article I've read over the last ten years that have speculated that Honda has a turbo engine.

On 20 September 1982, the Honda City Turbo made its debut and was immediately accepted by the Japanese consumer.
The already powerful engine of 67 hp was increased to 100 hp with the added turbocharging. Changes were made to the 1200 cc engine by using an aluminum/titanium head and a magnesium vavle cover to keep the weight down.
The Turbo unit married to this engine is smaller than those used bythe larger cubic engines and it has a higher RPM rating. Developed by a joint Ishikawajima Heavy Industry and Honda venture, this unit, coupled with the orginal Honda PGM-F1 fuel injection system has made this power package one of the most effecient and trouble free units in existance.

I'll be curious if Honda produces a turbo engine. Personally I would not buy it, but that's just me.
The Si numbers are not out of the norm for Honda. Honda is known to have, shall we say "healthy" cars in their test fleets. I saw a S2000 test car once that put down 239 hp to the tires (it was rated at 240 hp at the crank).
This whole thread is crazy talk. Why would honda just now want to come out with a turbo for there line. Its not gonna happen. This is the first talk about it. What goes out in Japan will never make it here.

Honda's turbo diesel in europe. I agree, the idea of turbo seem kinda out of character to the statements fuki said at the frankfort show. I figured they would go 4 cyclinder with a hybrid drive train to add torque and mpg to the engine or just drop a 6 cyclinder with cyclinder deactivation technology in it.

Yup, the AWD civic in Japan uses the same system the CRV uses.
