Test Drove the 2006 Sedan
Stopped by my Honda dealer to get some service done to my Wife's 05 Odyssey and while I was there noticed a crowed in the parking lot. I walked over a then noticed that all the sales people were looking at the new 2006 Sedan.
I went for a drive and I was very impressed! 140 hp feels so much better than my 115hp on my coupe!
Handleing felt no different, but I was really impressed with shifter! It looks like there will be no need for a short shifter anymore! The pull on the shifter feels a lot shorter than any stock civic Ive driven!
The 4 wheel disc brakes makes the car stop nicely, and the 16" wheels are a perfect match!
Im very impressed with the overall car, no complaints! I cant wait for the SI!

Nice!!! Maybe I should take my mom's Odyssey in for service and see if there are any new civics there. I've been telling my wife that I'ma go test drive the Si once they get it.
I just stopped by my dealer and saw the first three 06's to come into the lot. I sat in them but didn't drive them. I like them a lot.
Finally, steering wheel controls come to the lowly civic.
Third headrest in the rear is nice, foldaway mirrors, and stock stereo looks nice as well.
e-brake felt goofy a little, and the car looks like it's supposed to have HID headlamps, but sadly, it doesn't.
The tail lights look great.
Overall, I think these will be great cars.
That's it for now.

for those who have spent some time in the new vics...how are the seats? Specifically the fabrics, are they nicer than the crappy fabric in the 7th gens? Are they more comfortable?

There were 5 of them at Valencia Honda. I sat in one that was in the showroom. Im just not feelin this car people.
Funny how the new ones are built in Japan. All 5 of the ones I saw had a "J" for the first VIn digit.

yes it is. im gunna be tryin to get into a 8th gen EX coupe in a few weeks. got to get them here first, then i got to drive it. if they can keep my payments around the same as im payin now say byebye 7th gen and hello 8th.
I imagine if you raised a rev limit you'd get an SAFC or VAFE or other engine managment piece of equipment that would give you on the fly and accurate (unlike the stock tach) readings.
^Why would Honda want to stop people from modding their cars? I mean, looking at the Si concept from a few months ago, it looked like it was aimed squarely at the tuner crowd.

No, the engine space isn't really small. There is plenty of room, but it is blocked by certain parts, so you can't see the empty space. Check out vtec.net on their project SI.

the 06 civics are not starting to hit the streets...i've seen 1 on the road and my friend also just bought a sedan...the coupes i think come out later this month and begining of october
I saw one at the dealer today with a sticker price just over 17K.The car looked great inside and out,the seats were nice and firm.Didn't notice what model.Overall I was very impressed. They said they received three of them and sold one,a black model with a navi system for just over 21K.
My dealer had 4 sedans today.. 3 LX and 1 EX.. they had one with Navi already, but it sold right away so I couldn't see it. I'm a little curious how it has a larger engine, makes more power but gets better fuel economy?
