Acura RSX Type R.......My next car !!

Well, I went to the 2002 Auto Show in Ft. Worth, TX......I spoke to the Acura rep over there and finally got him to tell me when the RSX Type R
should be coming out on the market. He said the Type R should be coming out in October or November of this year.....that it will have somewhere
around 250 HP ( Fuggin' WOW) and that it should be about 4-5 grand more than the Type S....so probably somewhere in the neighborhood
of 27 - 29,000. Just thought I would chare the news, especially since people are interested in swaps and also since the RSX is what.....that's right....a Honda Civic : )

Not a good idea to boost a high compression engine.

Yes I am also interested in the Type R. I think 220 hp should be just about right.

however to spend 4 to 5 g's more is to me a waste of money
i mean its only 20 more hp than the type s and if you could add a CAI and some other little things that would cost you less than 4g's then
it would definitely be faster than the type r

Yeh 220, 250, I had had some drinks before me and my girl went to the show : ) But still....that rocks.

And yes, the RSX is the new Integra, but all the integra was, was a Civic. But yeh, I may have to trade mine in as well : (
It will be sad to lose my Vic, but damn, I mean an RSX Type R.....sounds too good to pass up !!

And I owe 13,800 on my civic, and it has 8300 miles on it, and it is still worth a couple of grand more than that, so I may sell
to an individual, go to the Acura dealership and do what they call an "In and Out" and drive off in my RSX Type R : )

No offense, but I find this to be 'rice' logic. I would love to see a NA car with basic mods that add any more than 10hp (and that is being generous). If it takes a team of incredibly smart engineers to use compex engine modifications to raise an engine 20hp, some kid isn't gonna be able to do it with some basic bolt-ons in his garage. I've yet to see dyno results where IHE really even made any difference, in a real world sense. If these products really worked as well as they claimed, why wouldn't the car come equipped with them from the start.

Blowers and turbos are the exception to this rule. Any jacka55 can up the boost of his turbo and gain significant hp, at the cost of reliability of his engine. But, as was mentioned, these high compression engines shouldn't mess with turbos. Turbos could be placed on any engine, but to do so without serious tuning on a high compression engine would be dumb.

As for the type R, I like what I see. In a few years the car choices could be pretty interesting.

i dunno for like 29 tho, i might rather have the EVO VII or the WRX sti thatll be out then, cause both of them are faster, and a lil bit more practical on space. time shall tell.......

I don't know...look at the past Integra Type R's....they were and still are klicking *** all over the place. They resbond to mods oh so well !!
They were showing the Injen CAI on the Type S was creating up to 10 HP, just the intake !!! May be a lie, but it was told to
me by a very reliable source. And if I were to get the Type R, with a CAI, 4-2-1 headers, and say a Greddy EVO exhaust.....I would put that
car up against anything on the street. May lose to some, but it wouldn't be a damn Suburu or a Mitsubishi I can tell you that. JMO

consumer reports says a type s does the quarter mile with a stock engine in 15.7 so if it goes to a type r with some mods.....wow fast and the furious 2!!!!!!!

even if you claim the Type R modded to be runnin circles around Subs and mits, as one said, if you put that same money into an equally priced WRX sti or EVO, im sorry, itll fock its shiz up more likely and take to mods more easily most likely JMO

And By the way...the WRX = Ugly as *** !! Suburu

I didnt say a Scooby was better in quality. I said the STi would kick the Type-R's @ss. Turbo against an N/A car hmmm lets see...WRX's run Type S's now hmm the STi versus the Type R is gonna be the same thing. Once they get going its a little better cuz of the AWD but from a dead stop, I dont care how ugly that thing is its still gonna beat your @ss.

A WRX WILL run circles around an RSX Type R.
220HP WRX (not STi) 1/4 mile: 15.3.... 0-60 .... ~5.3
I'm sure the RTR will get pretty close times to those, but on a track, forget it.... WRX's AWD... enuff said...

I love my Hondas, but you got tip your hat to fine car, like a WRX... The STi would just slap the hell out of an RTR...
