well i kinda take my comment back, i don't think many people know about jgtc unless they are really into the japanese scene and/or are industry guys.
d1gp is popular in the usa because its become more main streme especially since its a niche being exploited--drifting. take for example, formula-d, which is often times called "the white mans drifting event."
jgtc on the other hand is still somewhat a new territory to usa fans. a lot of times people associate drifting as the only thing from japan in terms of a track event, but jgtc is a pure grip driving event. and by grip i mean pure endurance race, no sliding out and breaking loose around a corner. jgtc is along the terms of a nascar or f1 event but with japanese cars.
geronimo: yeah, i just got back from los angeles last night actually. oh man, that minivacation was great haha, 3 nights, 4 days. combined we probably slept enough for 1 full nights rest lol!
formula-d was so great though! minus the insane heat, the event was rediculous. first, i had access to the modified magazine vip booth where the drivers hang out when they are not on the track so that was fun hanging out with all those guys. in the booth itself, they had plasma tv's with live feeds of the track and couches. they also had free beer for the VIP access people and tons of vitamin water drinks! woo, FREE ICE COLD BEER AT A RACE! i mean, does it get any better? dont they usually charge like $5 for that stuff at the track? haha
the races themselves..wow...i watched briefly in the stands and saw a hachi loose control on the track after hitting a cone, hit a wall, and flip! wow!!! and the final round, chris's run was insane! his tires caught fire and were lit up for probably atleast 1/3 of his run haha! the final two run was around 8:30 at night and it was fairly dark so you can imagine what kind of show it was!
just all around great weekend! and not to mention, sold out crowd! =p
