I saw this in person at the LA Auto Show a few months back. It's very sweet looking, and all under 20k... not bad. Kinda wish it had 200hp+, but it's not bad. Similar numbers to the BMW Z4.

Compared to the S2000 yes it is a little weak, but this car is not to compete against S2000 it competes more with the Miata.

If they do come out with the turbo engine for it then it will get closer to the S2000.

think about it. 19in, straight six from a m3. suspension system from bilstein, back end like a tvr, front reminds us of jaguar. about maybe a foot longer than a miata. has 330 bhp, top speed 160 RWD. 0-60 4.8 secs. 2240LBS. and handles like your average porche 911 gt2

german engineering meets british sports roadster concept. on sale for a cool 43k and comes with none of the fuss like power windows, reardefroster, or tcs.

i saw the sky at the world congress center back in april. its ok.for 20k though i would rather have the new si. 200 hp with stock lsd also. gotta say good for saturn for trying though.

that car is meant to compete in the price range of a corvette. I would like to note that a corvette would simply blow that thing away.

Looks Sick. I really like the side profile. Not everyone is concerned with extreme performance and for 20k you can't really expect all that much. For that price, the sky looks like an INCREDIBLE value. Even if you look at it from a performance aspect, it weighs a lot less than than comparable cars in that price range, is RWD which is huge, and seems like it would have a fairly sporty suspension setup.

yes its a good looking car, but think about this before you say its a good car. yes saturn has been know as an american quality car for sometime, as far as low maintnence goes. but it is also a gm 4 cylinder, they are not well known to last past 100k same as ford or dodge. so you can compare it to the miata but i could pretty much assure you the miata will be less trouble down the road. and no body has ever driven this car yet and has no clue how it feels and drives. for 20k think about it, it will be good old gm crap. yes it is rwd but what was the last rwd drive 4 banger gm made? i would have to say the 80's firebirds and camaros. so this will proably be like any other saturn or new gm economy car, under powered, lack of features, and **** poor handeling. only thing this has going for it is the looks, but i would put my money into a new miata instead. and if they ever do go with a power adder they will probably base it off the ss cobalt/redline powerplant.

I wouldn't go and trash GM completely like that. It is a 20k car and you will get what you pay for. Will the performance be outstanding....no..but you only paid 20k. For that price you get a nice looking, decently preforming cruising car. Before you go and bash GM, just remember that problem for problem they aren't that much worse than mazda or most other imports. GM has stepped up to the plate huge in the past year. If this car has "**** poor" handling, what does your civic have?

the civic is not built and has never been advertised as a sports car or something that is ment to be driven hard they are ment and advertised for something reliable and will last a long time. that is why i own one, but all the hype of this car when you read interviews or watch things on tv where the top reps are makeing this out to be a cutting edge automobile, and they advertise it as a "sports car" when in reality it is not. It's a cheap alternative for someone in a mid life crysis or a young impressionable kid looking for something sporty looking trying to get laid. but when it all comes down to it its still a saturn and any and all saturns i have had any experience with have been underpowered, crappy handeling, and quirky uncomfortable interiors as compared to anything else avalible in its class. and as for handeling my civic owns my mom's sunfire, my old 92 z24, or my neighbors saturn. all of which are the same class as the civic and imo cannot compare to the quality. and as for american roadsters in general none have been very impressive. take for example the new thunderbird, or the crossfire which is way over priced for what you get.

not really weissmann could care less with corvette, it is a roadster, corvette is a sports cars, by leaps and bounds theres a difference between these two. Weissmann is built for the canyon racer, while corvette has always been touted as the poor american's ferrari. Weissmann is handbuilt with tuning to boot. compare weissmann with say a shelby cobra, or a hand built noble m12 gto then you going places. both of these cost alot more to buy that a simple weissmann. the next car im thinking bout buying is this weissman in royal purple interior and snow white pearl outside. yummy


the reason for them to offer more european designs would be a simple cost function. making a standardized product throughout the global markets, economies of scale dictate cost will go down. since the sky is coming out in the east as either a opel/vauxhaul or chevrolet. even the solstice has exactly the same chassis and engine as sky, just a little differnce in exterior.

LMAO. Both this "canyon carver" and the Ferrari are made for on track use withlimited street use. This is why they refuse to sell F40s and F50s to anyone who wasnt going to use it primarily on the track.

The corvette is a true sports car thats intended for mostly street use while remaining VERY capable of owning it up on the track.
