Well i really didnt test drive it. I havent driven stick in like 8 years and the clutch felt funny and I kept stalling the thing out. So the sales guy jumps in and gives me a quick down and back and in those 10secs I felt afraid for the first time in a car. That thing is fast and is no joke. Anyone out there considering this thing make sure you know what your getting into. Anyways they were asking way too much for an 05 I think. They wanted 7 down and 525 a month. I figure Ill just see if i can get a used one or something like that. Even though that price isnt too bad, I just dont want to pay it.

i have a few friends/acquantences (sp?) that have high HP euro cars and some mild HP imports and personally, i dont think they can handle that power. i mean, c'mon. 18 years old and you got 500+ hp? i dont think youll survive to see tomorrow.

Yeah the EVO is fast becoming one of my least favorite cars. Every ricer that gets his hands on enough money to buy one does. When it all comes down to it, it's still an economy car that has been tuned from the factory, and styled obnoxiously. Get a real sports car that was designed as a sports car from the ground up. The S2000, 350Z, G35C, RX-8, etc were all designed as dedicated sports cars, and share no platforms with economy grocery getter **** boxes. I do like the STi/WRX though.

As i look at the pricing for this car as well as the financing charges and such Im wondering if I should wait till November for the 2006 Civic's which are suppose to be badass from my understanding .... What you guys think???????

Your statment is invalid. Every? Please... 30k isn't easy to comebuy to drop on a for door sports car. Don't get mad that something with four doors can do it better in nearly every category and still keep it's resale value than a car with two doors or even suicide four. The evo is what it is... an evolution of a lancer and it does a dam fine job at it, enough to get critical praise from the magazines, internet, news press and so on.

So just because the evolution evolved from a base sedan doesn't make it a sports car? Do you know what a sports car is? Usually it's a 2 seater... but times have changed, the evolution has evolved to a sports car.

Besides the 2 seats, the the evo is everything else stated. If you say different, remember the RX8 is also 4 doors too and your calling it a sports car.

I never said the EVO wasn't a sports car because of its 4 doors. I said it wasn't because it's a grocery getter on steroids. The same way I don't consider the SRT-4 a sports car. At least the RX-8 was designed from the ground up as a sports car.

Get over it, the evolution is a sports car, rather you believe it or like it. Your opinions are mute, that's why somebody negative rep you (no, not me). You think like an ***... open your eyes... mazda isn't the only car company in the world. I don't paticulary care for the RX8, but I don't go around making dumb/false statments about the car. Umm dont wanna bash but Evo>RX8,S2000,G35 etc. Although the Sti is faster in the 1/4 mile by 0.1 and 0.2 seconds...the evo out-handles it easily on the track. I love the sti, but i dont like when ppl love a car so much they dont say positive things about its competition..i still would take an Sti over Evo in the looks department but if im a person for the track then ill take an evo,just my opinion.

And I never said the RX-8 was the best car. I did point out that it was designed to be as you say "what it is." The EVO is a hopped up lancer whether you like it or not.

And I know Mazda isn't the only car company. I drive a Honda as well (see my sig) and a Honda I'd choose ten times over the EVO.

In what? All out performance? Maybe, but the car is tuned pretty damn aggressively from the factory. The other cars mentioned have a whole lot more going for them than just numbers. My civic had better interior than the EVO, and it is my opinion, but the car is hideous.

I appreciate the numbers it puts down, but I don't see it as a superior car to those mentioned above. It is, has, and always will be a Lancer on steroids. If Honda took a civic, put AWD and a turbocharged engine on it, I still wouldn't consider that better than an S2K, or an RX-8 for that matter.

There's a whole lot more dimensions to appreciating a car than just what it can do or what its capable performance wise. The overall driving experience takes into account a whole lot more factors that the EVO just plain falls short of. It is for this same reason that if and when the 2007 GT-R comes out from Nissan, I won't pay 911/vette money for it...even if it outperforms those cars.
