Someone suggested to lightly touch your knuckles on any metal part. That's what I do too and it has become a habit that I do it even if I'm getting off someone else's car!
i just saw on tv this is a saftey issue due to the fact that you can catch on fire while pumping gas from shocking the pump from getting out of your car so i guess it's better you shock on the door than the pump huh
leather wont stop the problem, i mean i have leather seats and i sometimes get shocked. but i wear sandals so my feet are touchin the mats majority of the time, could be the problem. u can always get one of those metal static thingie that u usually attach in the rear and it drags along the floor, prevents static shocks cuz my friend had one. but can look tacty for some peeps. if i can find it online i will post it but i havent searched for it yet

get leather... it dont zap u....
its because of the material that they use in the seats...
but if u touch the metal part of the door, u wont get zapped when you exit ur car

I hold the key and let the arc go thru that. Of course if you don't hold the key tightly enough you get both an arch between the key and the car and the key and your finger.
come on guys lets think about it for a minute........maybe static,,, yeah thats it static, when it gets warm outside it doesn't happen as bad, or if when you get out don't slide on the seat just stand right up then the friction will not build up....try it
It hurts like a mother...I just don't like the feeling. I've seen a big blue elecrical light b/t my car and my finger before. It is going to stay with me forever, and now i close my door with a sponge or whatever I can find.

and I have to go to the honda dealership to get the right parts lol.
