little dilemma....
little dilemma....
Well the subaru dealership near me is getting rid of their STI's for cheap. They have 1.9% financing. I went to the Subaru this afternoon to look at one and They have 2 left, one silver and a blue one. The dealer said he can let the silver one go for 27,500 out the door and the blue one for 28,250 since it has a few little extra things like ti shiftknob, and upgraded alarm and supposedly the blue one is more sought. I may actually go for it since I am needing a 4 door soon (wife pregnant). What do you guys think. I have to get rid of the 2 door civic eventually (by november). Would you guys consider anything else like TSX, accord, Lexus IS300, etc. My brother has an 05 sti and its so nice, veeeeeeeery fast and it has 4 doors. Help me out here.

depends on what you want from the car. if youre looking for a more family car, the sti might not be exactly what youre looking for. the ride is somewhat stiffer (race inspired), the seats are not really what you want to put a child seat on...plus if your wife is preggers she might not be comfortable in the front seat of the sti. and its considerably smaller than the TSX/accord/is3000 in size...inside and out. its about the same size as a civic sedan.
the other cars you mentioned are mid-size sedan category...so theyre roomier. if you can afford the tsx/is3000 id go for one of those. they are great cars, and if you decide you want more performance down the line (not that those are lacking at all in performance as is)...there are plenty of aftermarket support for them, i think.
dont get me wrong, im not knocking the sti, but its not exactly a "family" car...and insurance will be higher than the others probably.

I would say go for it, STIs are SWEETTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If she's pregnant she will complain about anything anyway, might as well be worth it, you could prob pad it or something, even go as far as to put a different seat in while she is preg.
As for the kid, I can say i wish my dad had an STI when i was a baby, he will grow up being used to speed and gs.
Think about it, its a god damn STI.
If not the STI i would go with TSX, they are real nice too, but in a different way.

You might also consider the Legacy GT, it more roomier and comfortable than the wrx and it's more comparable to the TSX and you can get the Limited Trim for about the same price of the STi. The GT has 250 hp turbo 2.5L and it's mod friendly like the other subarus. Also you'll save a bunch of money on insurance as it's not considered in same category as the STi. And in my opinion it's looks way better than the wrx.
I'll flip out and kill people.

you might want to think ahead, like yul stated... but i would go with the silver sti if you really wanted one. thats a damn nice price, and screw the blue if its going to be more expensive for a shift **** and a talkin alarm
i say keep ur civic and get a roomy and comfty ride for family wise.... especailly when ur bout to have a baby.... im goin on my second child rite now and i juss bought a toyota highlander.... love the ride driving smooth.... but wanting something bigger... plus itz a auto. so the wife can drive it too......

Just like what the other member's have said, the STI interior isn't that big, so if you want something to accommodate your pregnant wife and your newborn, check out the legacy or the TSX. Good luck.
Since your bro has an STi, I say you should go for an Evo!
But then you are having a family. I wouldnt choose a 4dr race car as a family car if it was me. Comfort and interior room would be one of my top priority in a family car.

I'd say pass on the WRX, kids are expensive, and think about how much you going to be driving them in that car. You won't be driving fast or anything like that with them. your child is gonna be expensive, but I don't know your budget, maybe you can handle the child and a pricery car. But I think an accord or TSX would be the way to go. I've already been thinking about what car I'm going to get when my wife is pregnant, and its not a sports car.
Good luck and congrats on the new addition

Ok....
WRX is out of the question. I took the wife for a test drive in the STI and she did not like it. We took the TSX for a test drive and that was very nice and we took out a TL which was awesome but WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy out of my price range. She really likes the new Infinity G35 sedan which is awesome but a little pricey. I want to stay away from SUV's since the gas prices here are about $2.50 for regular and just under $3 for premium which I would have to use on the STI. The accord is nice also. It has basically come down to a TSX, Accord ex v6, or the Lexus is300. I was quoted 25,750 out the door for the TSX with navigation and automatic. Accord v6 ex automatic was quoted at $25k out the door with navigation and the Lexus IS300 was quoted at $29,250 out the door with a bunch of options like navigation, limited slip, anti-skid, spoiler, automatic, and leather power seats. They have one left at that price is some sort of blue color. All cars drive very well and are comparable in comfort and acceleration. I need navigation since we travel a lot and my wife gets lost easily going to Miami and West Palm a lot. Let me know what you guys think. I will be purchasing by this coming weekend.
hmmm...that is a good price for the TSX. I'm thinking of getting one too and base model seems to be a bit more than what you are saying.
You might find the lexus a bit small though..but it's still a good price. Nonetheless, I think the TSX or accord would be a good choice.
btw, did you consider an Altima, Maxima or Mazda 6?

Just remember that cute little babies turn into messy, loud, spilling, puking, muddy 2-10 year olds that have lots of crap you have to haul around for them (coolers, strollers, diaper bags, luggage, bikes, sports equipment, wet towels, groceries, etc.).

Oh yeah get the TSX over the accord, and the Lexus. For some reason i have never liked lexus, i think they are overpriced for what you get. Something about a black TSX with some dark tint, it is just a very classy looking car, sophisticated.

TSXs look nice, but they're hardly any bigger than a Civic. Unless you've budgeted for more than $30k, your family-car-by-day/fast-and-furious-hotrod-by-night idea will be difficult to pull off. IMO, a V6 Accord sedan is an excellent choice for a not-so-sluggish family car if you refuse to buy a suv or minivan. If you like turbocharged butt-in-seat acceleration and awd and can afford it, the Legacy GT is a great choice. I test drove one and loved it.
I'm glad you're not going with a Ford or a Pontiac or something like that.
Just remember that with Acura, you might be paying a bit more because it is a "luxury brand" so your value for money would be better with the accord.

decision made.....
We decided to go with an Accord. We went to the acura dealership with a friends car seat and there was barely any room in the back with the car seat installed. The dealer was like "Well how often is someone going to be in the back seat." Lets just say that my wifes 00 civic 4-door is the same size in the back seat as the TSX. The acura dealer was really pissed off after I told him that. He told me that I will regret purchasing the Accord. The car seat in the back of the Accord fit really well and there was actually room for 2 more people in the back with the car seat. Can't wait for the car. I will show you all pics when I get it.
