I say yes to cocked. Only if your turbo running 3" exhaust all the way back into like an apexi N1. It just dont look right if you have stock exhust pipe with this muffler cocked sideways.

i think it looks good if it flows with the rear of the car. if you have a kitless car it looks crappy. Do what you want people will love/hate it anyway.

I'm about 90% sure that it comes from the older civics. It started in Japan, where on the older civics, there wasn't enough room to run the exhaust straight back and it had to curve under the car a lot. By angling the exhaust they actually straightened the ehaust path for the car. Nowdays, every copycat is putting in on their car to emulate a style that was originated for functionality. If those guys in Japan only knew what we were doing, which by now I'm sure they do, they'd point and laugh...

Most exhaust manifolds are towards the center of the car, so if you wanted it to look straight and come off the left of right side of the car, you would have to put an extra bend in it. The strighter the pipe, the less restriction for a turbo car. I think it looks stupid on any car that it doenst serve a real purpose, I have an Invidia N1 on my WRX and I think it looks good as it actually serves a purpose as it has minimal bends.
Edit: went out and took some quick pics, they are kinda dark, but you get the idea.
