Valentine 1, expensive, but best range and has nifty arrows to tell you where the radar is coming from.

heh what about under the 120 price range? i see the cobra 9550's on ebay ending at around 80... i kinda like the fact that it has the whole 8 position compass thing... the passport looks slick but too pricey, v1 and bel cost wayyyy too much.... i heard the whistler sucks but how much are u willing to sell it for?

yeah, i love the arrows on the V1.
this is what i did tuesday night.....
me and my friend (who has the V1) put both radars side by side and we go cop hunting, it felt strange looking for cops anyway, whenever there was an type of band alert, the V1 was always 1 or 2 seconds ahead. the V1 also has the diretional arrows so i didn't have to look 360 degrees to find the threat. the V1 also picked up a lot of uncessary X-band but i guess u can sorta reprogram it. all in all, i'm extremely satisfied with my passort and happy that i paid $220 for a brand new one compared to $400 plus s/h for a V1.

you can usually get them between 240-260 shipped on ebay. a seller on ebay noticed that i got outbidded so he asked me if i would pay him $220 shipped so i did. i got a used one so i went to best buy, bought a brand new one, and returned the used one. shhhhhh.... don't tell anyone it's $325 with tax at best buy in Houston

oh yeah, virgina...sux to be you man i'm pretty sure cops can't detect them but they could see it stickin on ur windshield. if u had the money, i'd suggest just gettin a hardwired one, with all the sensors in front of and behind your car. it's a lot of $$$ though

Passport 8500 is the only way to go! worth every dollar spent ! I'm still rolling with the original Escort I bought in 85, with no tickets in 5 years.

the passport 8500 or the bel 980 look like the best choices.. not cheap but you get what you pay for

lol but the passport 8500 is new.. so not even 5 years.. does that mean the 7500 is reliable enough too.. damn spending more than 200 on a radar detector.... it's way better to even spend $300 for the radar than to get a ticket, get points (in states where applicable), and an insurance markup

All the police that I have found by radar detector ALL use k/ka band radar. When buying one I highly recommend that you buy the most sensitive k/ka detector. I have a Cobra 9100 ($90) and it works well enough, but if I had to buy a new one, it would be in the $150 price range... good investment!! 10000 miles and only ticket was for going 73 while passing in a 55 I deserved that....

Diznavis - nope I mean 1985 ! Luckily they don't use laser much around the areas I drive in Texas. It picks up X & Ka bands. And that 17 year old detector still works like a biotch !!! I've probably driven over 350,000 miles with that detector in the last 6 vehicles I've owned. I've only had 2 tickets since I got it. Once I got busted with the damn thing turned off and the other he flipped on the radar after I blew past his a$$ while he was hiding in a ditch.
