what would you do?
ok today I was at my friends shop and some guy rear ended my passanger side but not fast just softly
It made a inch scratch which removed easily but the body went in a little not too much but when u look at it u can tell. I told the guy to give me a bill and leave and he did, then I talked to my friends and he said he knew the guy cause hes cool etc. So I gave him 50 bucks back and ended up with 50 bucks. The dent wasnt big nor that noticable. I know wiht 50 bucks the body shop could probably fix it for like 20-30 bones.
Does anyone think I made a big mistake not going through insurance to get all my dents fixed?

well, think it this way. you did a very forgiving thing and you'll get whats comming back at ya.
but i think it would've just been better if you gave him an options such as you bringing it to a shop or a shop that he knows of for simple repairs, and he pays the estimate.
a scratch that is removeable after some shine and if its pushed in, you can remove the rear bumper and try to push it back out. if you were to bring it to a shop, thats what they would do and probably charge you some bs fees like inspection, overnight charge, etc.
btw, going thru insurance over damages that are lesser than $500 = pointless. thats basically asking them to rape you for rates in the future. i would rather pay the $100-+ bill than paying an extra $5 per month for car insurance for the rest of my life.

Man dude that was stupid no offence usually they charge like 100 just for supplies thats not counting the labor of it. You should get it fixed and ask him if he will pay the rest. Dude look you feel sorry for him but maybe if he knew how to drive or was attentive none of this would have happened. There was no need to feel sorry for him.
