who wins? type s vs mr2
who wins? type s vs mr2
alright so my friend just got a new mr2 spyder
he says he can beat everyone even though he is stock.
my other friend has a 02 type s with aem v2, short shifter and apexi exhaust with custom piping as his only mods
the mr2 dude says he can burn the type s no problem
he laughs everytime i suggest they race.
the spyder is around 70 horses less than then type s but around 600 pounds lighter plus its MR
i think it would be a good race
the type s guy is a WAY better driver both in drag and in the twisties
i know if its a drivers race he would win hands down.
so wat do you think?
who has advantage car wise?
is it a drivers race?

Type S vs. MR-2 or MR-S? If he just got it new, then its probably an MR-S. Either way, I think the Type-S will win. MR-S' are pretty quick since they're lightweight, but I don't think the power would amount to the Type-S'.

I'm leaning towards the RSX-S. It has a power advantage and you said a better driver. That should be good enough... I'm thinking the MR-S might get better traction at launch too, but I'm sure the RSX-S would make a comeback...
Can you record that race?

Hmm.... if I were to take a slightly educated guess, I think a stock 1ZZ would put down ~123WHP. And 1ZZ isnt known for top end. Type-S on this one. If your friend swapped in a 2ZZ later on.... then it should be interesting.
you guys are so lucky to have MR-S in the states..
Canada..for some reason we dont get them..
I wanna build one so bad..maybe i'll import one, one day..
Type S would win, hands down.
I wanna see the MR's owners reaction when the DC5 takes him out..

no clutch huh?
i beat an mr-s on the highway from a 70 roll twice so i would say the type-s but after i beat the mr-s i went home and did my research on them and they have a reall good take off, like stock they run a 9.6 in the 1/8 but they just do not have enough horse power to keep them going.
I'll flip out and kill people.

mr-2's are ghey, weak and ugly. type s wins wee. if it was the older mr-2 turbo, heh, type s has no chance. i used to have a vid of a stock mr-2 turbo racinga stock rx-7 turbo, mr-2 spanked the hell out of it
the whole clutch thing....
thats just the optional 6-speed sequential manual. there is no clutch pedal (so think like the sequential sportshift on the RSX automatic), but there IS a clutch. its just not controlled with your left foot, its controlled with the computer.
the standard 6-speed has a cluch, just like any other manual transmission
