Doing good burnouts on a auto tranny
on my old car (1998 Nissan Pathfinder) i could do a good burnout by holding down the brake all the way, and floor it.. and let it spin for a bit, then ease off the brake. i dont think thats too good for the car though.. but i tried doing that on the civic, and it wouldnt do anything. is there a easy way to do a good burnout on a auto? only way i found so far is to go 5 or less miles per hour, and let it roll.. then shift into drive and floor it.. but that only does a tiny small burnout.. no smoke either..
you can try using the e-brake and putting the gears into neutral and revving up the engine to about 5to6 k rpms and then
let go of the e-brake and shifting into drive, i know this is a boost thang but at least its better than nothing and if you are lucky, all the rubber
can be rubbed off in a couple of burnouts and you can pay a couple of hundred dollars to replace them again so go ahead
i urge you to go burn your tires go go go

Why on earth would you want to do a burn out in a Civic? If you have a car that cannot lay down some rubber by simply pressing firmly on the accelerator pedal, why embarrass yourself. You will shave years off your tranny and spin your tires on the rims causing them to go out of balance. And, waste rubber. But if you want to, here you go: throw a can of oil down on the road in front of your right front tire. Dribble it out as far as you can. Or try driving on ice or snow. Or get some performance mods on your car so you can spin the wheels some.

just slam it from reverse to drive at about 20 mph...make sure you pause in neutral to get the revs up!!!
Take some pics of the pieces......

Mike
1. New Civic : $15,000
2. Tires : $400
3. Seeing the expression on your dads face when he finds out you blew up he car he just bought you: priceless!!! haha
When you actually have to buy something, you start taking care of it!!

You can't do a burnout in a civic auto because when u brake ur holding the front brakes
down...... so ur holding the front wheels frum moving....... and civics are FRONT WHEEL DRIVE.....
You can do it in ur Pathfinder because i believe it is REAR WHEEL DRIVE and when u hold down
ur brakes you were holding the front wheel and the rear would spin in place.........
Civics cant' do that exspecially AUTOMATICS.......

Here's how to do it:
1.Wait until it is wet outside (or put some motor oil on the tires)
2. Put on the E-brake
3. Hold the brake pedal in and rev it up to 3500
4. Release the brakes and floor it.
5. LET EM BURN BABY!!!
It'l do a real nice one then

well follow any of the above steps but add bleach to your tires, it will sorta kinda eat away at your tires, but will make hella lots of smoke, unless you have a nice new set of tires ready to be put on i don't suggest this though.

Forget new tires. Have your mom buy you a new Corvette. That should get the job done on your burn out contests. At any rate, get a rear wheel drive car that has a big V8. You probably won't win many burn out contests in a civic. ...Unless your competing with Big Wheels.

You won't be very popular on the boards if you say stuff like that... the rest of us will get jealous
before your burnout put it in R before D to make sure you get down to first gear. i know this happens with other cars. braking won't work because the front disc have too much of a hold on the wheels. the ebrake thing might work. if that doesn't work revving in N and dropping to D should.
i think everyone knows this is hard on the car, most things other than normal driving are, but that wasn't the question.

IF you find a way that u can kinda start to get them to spin, turn the steering wheel a lil bit to either side, eases it up a lil bit and will possibly enhance the spin (this is why i miss my '93 Cavalier Z24... around the same 0-60 as a 5spd EX, but 180lb/ft of torque )
