That sucks dude. They usually catch you before you see them. It is time to invest in a radar detector!

Whoops! Yeah, the rear will like to slide out from under you when you do that. It happens even more if more of the weight is in the back. Just be glad our cars have a 60/40 weight distribution. I always speed in this one spot on the highway. I've bean there so many times that I know where the cops hide out. No need for a radar detector. At least not yet. That sucks though dude.

Don't you people know not to slam on the brakes when you see a cop?? The brake lights are a dead giveway that you were speeding. Try lightly engaging the e-brake instead. LIGHTLY.

so if this happens to me should i just plow right through the cop?... you slammed on your brakes for a reason. if you ask me, you deserved that ticket and you arent learning anything from it. think about it...

you have EX or LX? cuz the LX dont have antilock brakes..... just curious...

Did ABS ever comes on when it starts fish tail?
Were you in the middle of a corner turning? up/downhill?
Did you do any steering correction for this?

you were doing 100mph in a 50 zone... doing 100 on the highway is bad enough, but in a 50 zone? you deserved that ticket dumbass. ive only gone 100 once and that was on an open highway in my old 88 dodge omni, and i didnt stay at that speed long, just wanted to see if the car could do it (speedometer ended at 85mph)

I do about 95-100 everyday on the interstate, but I am just going with the flow (ok, maybe a little faster) I only speed when everyone else is or when there is no one else on the road. I'll probably eventually get pulled over.

I Drive fairly often at pretty high speeds.. Want to not lose controll... Downshift and gently E-Brake... Got me from 110Mph to 75 pretty damn quick with no signs of loss of controll even with the stock Firecraps

Please don't press the foot brake... like the guy said earlier, you gave yourself away but 100 in a 50mph zone... glad you're still alive, thanks to the cop most likely.

i find it a lot more dangerous to pull the ebrake when going 100. the abs works fine for me. it feels like the back is going to go out but it doesn't.

You better not go 100 on any highway that me or my family is on, that's asking for an accident. Even more so in a lil econobox car that we drive, there's not much weight for such a fast speed. Get a radar detector like I have (my cobra 9100 works nice for $90) and then use some common sense if you speed

just one question
when the cops catch you do they have to have radar detectors or they can pull you over by seeing how fast you are???
the reason i'm asking is that if a cop pulls you over and doesnt have a radar detector, then you could say or LIE about how fast you were going

Something is wrong with your car..... You should be able to slam the brakes at any speed with little steering input (or you over-reacted to some yaw created by the sudden weight transfer!!)

Mike

I didn't say pull your e-brake with all your might. If you were to just give the handle a tiny little jerk, it would slow you down enough. I'm not saying yank on the think enough to lock up your wheels - if you do that, say goodnight.

Sucks that you got a ticket but you were more fortunate than I was. I slammed on the brakes at about 90mph, fishtailed, then spun out into two metal poles....of course it was on the way to school and I was half asleep but nonetheless it f*cked up my car pretty bad.

Yah I agree to this guy CHP suck man they caught you doin 100 mph kiss your license good bye.Anyway what I do is downshift so engine brake will engage and slight tap on the brake pedal before you pass the cop that way Im still in control with my car I never try using the emergency brake but I know youl lose control because of locking your rear wheels.

regarding your question Jandree22- i had mine up to 118mph once, although it took me, like, 5 minutes to get from 100 to 110 . some1 said somewhere that the fuel cuts off at 122...

My fuel cuts off at 113mph. That's on my LX though. My normal rules to follow for speeding is this:

Find a more expensive car speeding and get behind him. See a cop? Rev the engine to what the RPM will be in the next gear down and let the other guy pull away.. no signs of your car jerking or brake lights. And yes, you can get a ticket if you're going over the speed limit but he doesn't clock you. It's called a "failure to obey traffic control devices". They can pretty much give that to anyone they want and not have any proof. It's only a $35 fine and no points here in florida though.
