geico is so stupid
I got this "geico" monthly newsletter. The very first article is this big thing on street racing.
First, they do what every other media outlet and statician does.... they combine people driving like idiots in traffic "racing" through cars on the freeway or whatever with actual street racing. People don't realize this drastically increases the number of "accidents" attributed to street racing. IMO, there is a difference between actual street racing and driving like a moron in and out of traffic.
Secondly, they mention this article about some eclipse owner who said someone put sugar in his gas tank and it ruined his engine. The geico rep said "i knew putting sugar in a gas tank wouldn't prevent the car from running because I saw a demonstration where cola was run through a car's valves causing them to gum up." Ok 2 parts to this one:
A. a demo of someone putting coke through valves is different than pouring it into a tank. soda is mostly water, which will NOT compress when introduced into the combustion chamber. if you poured soda into your gas tank, there's a good chance you will do some serious damage to your engine. this guy is a f*cking tool.
B. sugar CAN damage an engine, fuel filter, etc. this guy is a f*cking tool.
Then the guy says "the oil covering the bottom of the car indicated that it had been in motion when the engine was blown and could not have been damaged while the vehicle was parked". ---- Ok duh? And you can blow a gasket, park the car, and have plenty of oil settle and collect on parts on the underside of a car.
Lastly, he said "the car's front left tire was bald, leading him to believe the car was used for a new phenomenon he'd read about called "drifting". ---- Holy f*ck. Get a clue and end yourself. A FWD car can't drift by definition, and even then, powersliding will bald the BACK tires, not one front tire.
Next in the article Geico talks about "speed shops" that sell "exotic parts" for cars so street racers can boost power and race illegally. So what is Geico doing? They are looking to the NAIC (national association of insurance commissioners) to help them impose new policy forms and exclusions for their insured owners, specifically to NOT INSURE people who have customizations done specifically for street racing. In other words? If you modify your car, geico will drop you from insurance because they think mods = street racing.
Then they have an article on drifting and what parents need to know. Apparently a new "sport" developed called drifting where kids try to "drift" around corners and get as close to the outside barrier walls as possible without hitting them. --- I have never heard of kids doing this, and again, they throw this in with "street racing" when it belongs in the "driving like a moron" category. They then claim "although drifting has become a sporting event, the majority of these events are unauthorized".
Lastly, "are your children street racing? watch for the signs":
"Customized cars. If your kids are adding things like turbo boosters, exhausts, or other such devices..."
"Check the front and rear bumper of your kid's car. If you see numerous bumps, scratches, or gouges, your kids are probably playing auto tag and racing."
"Street racers may alter or conceal their license plates"
"Look for bars in the trunk or under the hood that go from one side of the car to the other, attached where the shock absorber would be located. These are used to reinforce the structure under high speed turns and a sure sign of racing"
Geico, do us all a favor and end yourself.

All this article proves to me is that people who race outside a track are ruining it for the people that do it legally.
Street racers should have their cars impounded and crushed, weather it's in traffic or "done safely"

WOOT
Street raceing is also why its so damn hard to get people to rent us their lots for autocross. They think were a bunch of punks that are going to destroy the place.

That is an old person's way of explaining what is going on to another old person.bwahahhahaa... My dad would probably get it. We've got Geico, and they suck.
Tsk tsk tsk, I wish someone would explain to them not everyone is an idiot. I mean, what if people race stock cars? How about low riders? Those were never meant to be fast, yet they're modded. Tsk tsk tsk.

I HATE INSURANCE. I've never had an accident, only a 3 moving violations but none in the last 6 years, and I'm over 25. I still pay $100 a month to insure a CIVIC. I've caculated that I have spent approximately $20,000 on insurance in the past ten years and I've never had a claim!
Fear is a known driving factor for getting people to buy stuff. Geico being a company, in the business of making money, is trying to scare kid's parents into rallying against any sort of car mods, and also buying insurance from them since Geico obviously has the stats to show that car tagging causes accidents.
They also would think that a kindergarden kid who drew a picture of a dead squirrel is a terrorist in becoming. My hat to you, Geico.
I for one always respect my speed limit, except in some corners that I have excellent visiblity in, and know the limit of my tires, plus I only rarely did it : untill it cost me two rims, a left tab and a link kit. The truth is somewhere in between, and Geico's move is to be expected in an environment where as I said, fear is a main factor. What can you, the consumer do? Totally ignore the thing, start a revolution against capitalist consumerism, bitch about it silently, organize an entertaining protest or make the most of it : put it apart to better understand it.
Just my 2 cents..

Sooo ummm, Whos up for a game of "street tag"? hahaha! Thats the best part of the whole letter! Also, my mothers minivans tires are getting a bit bald.. hope they dont drop her for drifting... ASTRO POWER! What a bunch of as.s holes

this kind of stuff makes me want to hurl. somone should start a website about this bs so people know what complete idiots these people are.
however sugar wont f up your car no matter how hard you try, unless i guess you put in so much sugar that it filled the tank to where no fuel could be put in. dont you watch mythbusters lol. however water/soda would if there was enough in there to hydrolock the engine.

im up for a game of street tag guys, first i have to get a new front right tire from drifting around all those left turns with my insane FWD skills....
oh and as for the sugar, it brought up a good trick ive heard of, if you have moth ***** and an enemy put the moth ball in the gas tank and as fuel is like half way the pump will suck up the moth ball and the engine stalls, then the car will turn back on and operate fine cus the moth ball fell out, then it will stall again then start back up and run fine, it continues until moth ball dissolves.
now this is something my friend told me about, i however would not suggest you do this unless you dont like the person
